For years my partner has gone without several upper front teeth, and I finally convinced her to get some work done. The dentist recommended an upper metal partial that replaces the front 4 teeth. After all the horrible drilling, pulling, grinding, etc, she now has an upper partial that does not look natural, falls out when she tries to eat, and she cannot speak right. She doesn't really want to go back because she thinks that they won't be able to do anything about it. They told her that she has a very unusual bite and that's why it doesn't look natural - they couldn't make it fit any better. I was reading online and now I see that the teeth a metal partial anchors to often break because they are ground down to hold the clip. I don't know what I have done to her, but I feel terrible. What if anything can I do to remedy this situation? can the teeth they grooved for the partial be filled in later? Do all partials have similar problems? I don't know if we can afford implants...HELP!!!!!

ok im pregnant and i had a dentist appoitment and they told me i needed papers from my doc stating that the dentist can see me and treat me whatever i had them faxed over . My dentist did not want to do work on me. is he allowed to do that. ?? people think just because your pregnant that you cant got to the dentist well you can. So i ended up having to goto one of those walk-in clinics and i waited probably about 6hrs no joke. and they had to pull my tooth out. i was in serious pain. all day so my question is can a dr refuse to treat you.

I am 12 and my teeth should have stopped growing out by now, but my premolars and even some molars are falling out too! New ones are growing, but no one in my family that I know of has never had this happen to them. They either had them pulled out or just left them alone. Is this a rare case of something, or is it just a natural thing that just happens?

There is a tenderness, but not really painful. Dentist said "don't worry, probably an infection". It can't be good as it is weeping. I had root canal work done on this tooth many years ago and it now has a crown. Has anyone had experience with something like this??

I just went to the dentist today. After insurance, I will owe over $3700.00. The work I need done: bridge for 1 missing tooth, 2 root canals, and crowns for 4 teeth, I also have gum problems, 90% of the work needed is on my upper teeth. I asked the dentist today, after I saw the estimate, about dentures for the top. She said that she would not recommend it (do they not recommend it because they want the money- almost $10,000 between me an my insurance). I am 40 years old. Is it always better to "save" your teeth, are dentures really that bad? I will not look forward to the extraction but after that.....will it be ok?

my two bottom wisdom teeth had grown out about two years ago, and one of them was askew, now there's another one almost fully out now, that's also askew but it's on top of the straight one. i woke up this morning with a weird feeling in the straight bottom one and it made me think maybe it's the top tooth pressing on it. is that bad? am i going to have to pull any of them out? or will it be corrected through time (and pain :D)?

Yep! I was one of those who hesitated for years because I was embarrassed of my teeth. I was told I needed 19 fillings. Well I finally decided that it was time to smile without shame. I had no emergency and in no pain, so I guess it was that I made up my mind. The dentist was gentle and very professional...that helped. I did get a needle - which I felt a slight sting. Other than that, I'm feeling good about myself. *Helpful hint for those that are scared, embarrassed or ashamed to go....take your ipod, MP3, walkman, whatever you have with music that you like and totally blast it when the doctor starts his/her work. That's what I did and I totally tuned the drill and all those other scary noises out! Oh and don't forget to close your eyes! Good luck and just DO IT!!! P.S. 12 fillings left to go :)

Hi I'm 17 and need some serious help. I'm a little scared of the dentist not anything to serious. I have to get a cleaning and before that my densit told me that I had to have my wisdom teth pulled. I'm only going for my cleaning, but now I'm so scared for some odd reason. Please give me some advice and tips especially if your a dentist or work in the dental field. Also can you give me some ways to stay relaxed while recieving any injections I may need, the last thing I want is to have even more pain by not acting the way I should.

If you can help me then thanks much. I need to know what happens in Dental School. I mean this as in what all do you do? When you are practincing on each other does it hurt? Does it feel as if you were at an actual dental visit? Has anyone ever cried? What about people who get a little nervous, do you guys learn how to relax or what? Also and this whole mouth prop thing and rubber dams do you guys use those as well? I need to know for my research paper that's all. Thank you so much for all the info you provide me with. Oh and how did your dental school go for you?

I have noticed these small white peices of something in my mouth lately. They pretty small, about the exact shape and size of those little nerd candy....only white. I just recently started noticing them and my mom says she has the same thing. I even looked in my mouth and there is a small hole where the peices seem to be coming from.....anyone have a clue what they are, because I am stumped.
