Well, you can get braces on at any age, but I got my braces on when I was thirteen, and I'm fourteen now and I still have them on. My teeth are perfectly straight, but the reason I have braces is because of my overbite. I couldn't get them on earlier, because I hadn't lost all of my teeth yet. There are a lot of people I know and a lot of people at my school who get their braces on when they are between the ages of twelve and fourteen (including me) and get them off between one and three years later.
But like I said before, there is no exact age. Many people seem to be getting them on at that age, and maybe a little bit earlier, because they want to get them off as soon as possible. I think the time most people get them on is right after they lose all their baby teeth, and right after all their teeth have grown in. Some people get them on in elementary school, most likely because their teeth are very crooked. But some people wait a few years, like until they are maybe sixteen or seventeen, either because their teeth got damaged so they had to get them on again, or because their parents wanted to wait a few years, because it is so expensive. But their are a few adults I know who currently have braces, most likely because their parents couldn't afford them when they were kids. If you have perfect teeth when you are a child, you are probably going to have perfect teeth all your life, because once your grown up teeth are in, I don't think you can make them crooked or unstraighten them.

Average is junior high 11 or 12. Sometimes as early as 8 or as late as 16. There are even lots of adults with braces. No matter what age your children are the orthodontist will schedule a consultation to take x-rays and do what they need. Its best for the orthodontist to get to know them young.

The ages vary for kids needing braces or retainers...the best time is when all of the child's teeth are fully grown in.

it's dependable but most kids have all of their adult teeth between the ages 12-14..at least most orthodontists won't allow braces on children until all of the adult teeth and wisdom teeth have grown in.

I got them when I was 12 - that is a good age to bring them to an orthodontist ... when your child goes into Jr High then thats a good 2-3 years you child will have them.. then off before highschool!

It varies from dentist to dentist. I had my braces at age 12. My cousin was in her late teens early 20s when she had hers.

Its recommended that kids should have an orthodontic evaluation around age seven even if they don't have any problems. That way they can determine if anything is needed or make predictions.
