Sweetie,
It does not hurt any more than a really long dental filling. My jaws were sore from being open so wide for a long, long, time. The one thing to remember is that the bridge will not last forever. At some point you will have to have it replaced. It will wear out. You will have the two teeth on either side of it completely ground down to mere points. At some point the bridge will come loose or the finely filed down teeth on each side will break. I have had to endure my bridge coming loose on 1 side (after 7 years) of course it was still stuck on the other filed down tooth. Twice now the dentist has had to painfully pry it loose from the side still stuck, hoping he wouldn't break the tooth it was secured to off altogether, in order to re-cement it. The last time a piece of the bridge broke, but I had it re-cemented in lieu of costly replacement. When dentist told me I need 2 other bridges I opted for partial plates. Trying to save as many teeth as I can.

Usually not at all. The dentist will simply take an impression of your upper and lower teeth with a soft, clay-like substance. Once the impression hardens slightly, they will be removed, and the impressions are sent to a lab to construct the bridge. Once it's done, you'll be asked to return to the dentist and he'll fit the bridge and give you instructions on how to care for and clean it. Really, it's a "no sweat" procedure.

no. but go to a biologic dentist, or order a porcelain over gold bridge. otherwise, they will give you porcelain over metal, which has nickel in it. nickel causes cancer.
