I have braces right now, they only hurt the first couple of days and then they hurt when you get them tightened. You almost eat anything you wont, just be careful with hard foods when you bite into them because it can cause the bracket to come loose or out of the brace.

Don't have them now, had them when I was 14 AND just left on vacation so couldn't eat anything but soup! No pain, no gain, they say, but you have my sympathy, not just for the discomfort (you do get used them, even when the orthodontist "tweaks" them every few weeks), but because you always get them when you're most conscious of your looks and want to flash a winning smile for your sweetie! Braces and acne come at the worst possible time!

I got them a few days ago and they don't really hurt. Take some Motrin for the pain and you should be fine in a few days. I'm glad I got them, in the end we'll all have beautiful smiles. : ]

I've had mine for a month. They don't hurt anymore but they probably will when they tighten them. Hang in there.
