The process of getting them on does not hurt. But after a while there may be a little pain. Nothing a Motrin can't help. Eating is a little painful, too, so you might want to eat soft foods like macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, milk shakes, etc.

Good luck!

When your orthodontist puts on the braces, it doesn't hurt. It will hurt when you're teeth are getting straightened, and that's a good thing. The pain means that you're teeth are adjusting to become straight. After 1 week, the pain will go away, until you go for adjustments. The orthodontist makes the wire tighter, and your teeth will adjust again. I know all of this because I have braces on now.

Getting them on doesn't hurt, but your lips do get dry seeing as their like, stretched out for a long period of time. Bring chapstick. Also, the first day or two it will be extremely uncomforatable and hard to eat. But you'll get used to it. You also may experience a little soreness, but just take some Tylenol or pain reliever.

Good luck =]
Braces suck but their worth it.

Putting them on doesn't hurt too bad, just a little tingly.
For about 3-6 days after you get them though, they will be a little sore and achey, and hard to eat, but that's only becasue your teeth are moving so fast. After a while, you wont' even notice they're there and you'll teeth will look straighter and straighter! Dont panick! It will be all worth it at the end.

i was afraid of the same thing, it doesnt hurt to get them put on you teeth, but after a while, youll feel the pressure on your teeth and it will hurt to eat for a day or two and each month as they get tightened they will hurt for a little while, but after a few months youll get used to it, not saying it wont hurt, but youll know what to do! take some medicine and eat soft foods like yogurt, bananas and i always ate ice cream because the cold numbs the pain a little bit and my mom let me because she knew that my teeth were hurting but really, its not that bad and its all worth it in the long run :-)

When they put my braces on it did not hurt, they didn't use needles to numb it. Later that night they start hurting because your teeth start moving. After they get them on I recommend you go and by some Pain Reliever for the night.

well, when they first come on, they do not hurt. but around the next day, they will feel like someone hit you in the teeth with a baseball. you will have this horrible feeling for about a week. i suggest you take Advil or Tylenol. stick to soft foods that require little to no chewing during this dreaded first week. here is a link to tell you what foods are ok to eat.

yeah, it hurts like.. i'm not even going to say it. but you'll be okay.

it's not worth lying about, becuase that won't make it hurt less... if you go in there expecting it not to hurt, it'll make it seem worse, you know? :[ it doesn't hurt at first, but when the tightening sets in for the first time, it'll suck. the good thing is, it goes away in a couple days and it's not going to hurt that bad ever again.

the better thing is... you get to eat mounds of ice cream :]

take a motrin, eat soft foods, and get some 'orajel' numbing gel for your mouth. make sure you're using the wax they give you to avoid sores. that's it... good luck, and just think of your perfect teeth!
