Took me 2 to 5 days. But to relieve the pain I always ate something soft and cold like ice cream. Made the pain go away faster.

Last week, I got my braces on in the morning. I felt okay for the next few hours, and then PAIN! I couldn't eat anything! But the next day, the pain lightened a bit, and now, eight days later, I can eat with no pain at all when eating the approved foods.

Give it a day and you will find the pain lessening. Every time you get your braces tightened, you will go through the same thing. When your ortho. tells you to wear rubber bands, keep them on! If you take them on and off, not only does it take longer for your teeth to move into position, but you will find that your teeth hurt all over again each time. (Taking them off to eat won't really hurt the progress, but put them back on when you are done...don't wait until 2 hours later.)

No pain, no gain....that definitely goes for orthodontic work

It varies from person to person. But, in my experience, if you start eating hard food ASAP, the pain goes away quicker (1-3 days.) It hurts, but it seems quicker that way.

took me like 2 days, and yes it hurts even more when they tighten your wires. i remembered i ate ice cream, soup, and other soft stuff in the begining. Try to eat stuff you don't haev to bite in, or you'll be in aLOT of pain, just take it slow, and in the end, it will pay off, with a beautiful smile!

It took about five to six days before I was able to eat anything solid. I had soup, jello, ice cream, mash potatoes and lots of milkshakes to keep me going until I got used to them. Believe me it does get easier with time and it'll be all worth it once it's all over :)
