I've had braces since last April and I can tell you that anytime you go back in for an adjustment, new ties, new wire etc. it is going to hurt for a day or so. Right now I am hurting because I have missed my last two ortho appts. due to illness. My brackets are digging into my cheek on one side and my lower teeth are hurting big time...
I recommend buying a waterpik. It makes getting all of the yucky stuff in your braces alot easier than just using floss and flossers. It's like a powerwasher for your teeth.
Good luck :-D

My daughter had fairly extreme tenderness for the first 3 or 4 days. Not only did she have the braces, she also had an"extender" put on the roof of her mouth. We used Motrin. It seemed to help ease the pain. I wish you luck...she had been wearing them for about a year now and doesn't have any pain with the adjustments.

It will take you about 5 days to 1 week to adjust to the pain....and once they start loosening the pain will go away. Each time they tighten them it will hurt like the first day (u won't be able to eat anything solid)...but eventually you get used to it. I had them for 3 years and had my mouth cut constantly, make sure you buy the wax to cover the brackets that cut the inside of your mouth.

After each time you get them tightened the pain lasts for only a few days. I took advil and it really helped. Also avoid hard to eat foods that could increase the pain.

When they first put them on 1 week, After every visit when they tighten them about 1 or 2 days. Depends how bad your teeth are and how much they move everyone is different.

I hurts for like three days. It will start all over your mouth; then after a day it will be just some of your teeth. Your molars are the last things that will stop hurting.

when you first get them on, they will hurt for about a week. i recommend taking Advil or Tylenol. when you go to get them adjusted, they will hurt as well, but for less time, maybe 2 or 3 days. during these painful days, you should stick to foods that require little to no chewing. here is a link to foods that you can eat during these dreaded days.

usually after every time your braces are tightened, you will experience discomfort for one to two days after that before becoming adjusted. For those days, I recommend shakes that will fill you up without causing you to grimace in pain.

i didn't felt so bad, if i could remember. though it's uneasy and very painful for the first three day. but after that, it's okay for me. it's not that hurt, and that long. it depends, though. just take it easy. *LOL*
