I had my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and my bottom lip and left side of my face are still numb. Everyone I've talked to said the numbness should be gone already...could something have maybe gone wrong during the surgery?

2 things:

One:
Sometimes a surgeon will give a patient an extra injection of a long-lasting local anesthesia (Novocaine type) to help them stay comfortable until they can get prescriptions filled, get home, etc.

Two:
Because of the anatomy of the nerve that goes to the lower teeth, it is not uncommon for folks to remain numb for some time. This is called parathesia and is usually related to the inferior alveolar nerve.

Unfortunately, there is no real way to predict if or when the feeling will come back. In most cases it does come back, but it make take several more weeks or longer.

Since you are concerned, call your dentist/oral surgeon.

I had mine out the other day and was numb for maybe 3 hours afterwards.
Did you go to an oral surgeon or a dentist? The oral surgeon I went to told me there was a slight chance they could hit the nerve, causing my mouth to stay numb for a few days. It's also possible to become permanently numb but very, very unlikely.

when i had mine taken out my mouth stayed numb for about 3 hours afterwards... something may have gone wrong. I would suggest getting it checked out as soon as you can!
