Ok, Im going to the orthodontist in September. I dont really know what to expect. Will it hurt? What will they do? How long is it from the first visit until you actually get the braces? How long will I have braces (give me an idea please, i have like 3 teeth on the bottom that are a little cooked like they are just a tad out of place, and one of them kind of overlaps another one, and on the top, there is one, it is where I couldnt get a baby tooth out so the new tooth started coming in over it)????? Will this hurt? Tell me EVERYTHING I should expect please! Im just really nervous!!!!! Help!! I dont care if its harsh, as long as its true!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm debating on metal or invisalign/orthoclear. For money sake I'm leaning towards the metal, but for physical/looks sake, it's invisalign. But until they are straighter, the clear will just look like my crowded teeth right now. Do either hurt more or less? I figure they're both doing the same thing to your teeth so they will hurt equally but I'm still debating. Any advice would be appreciated!

My friends daughter was at the dentist and apparently was a little scared (nothing major, according to her.) The dental assistant thought it would be a good idea to give this 6 year old a valium (not sure of the dosage) to which her my mother agreed (my friend is the father). This kid was high as a kite for two days, slurring and not being able to walk. I'm incensed, as is the father. Can anyone tell me if this is common or should my friend take some kind of action?

I've crooked teeth and my front teeth kinda cross into each other. Anyone would hardly find me laughing in public. I just smile so that ppl don't see my crooked teeth. I've had ppl telling me, that I look cute (those who don't know yet that I've crooked teeth) and I fear they wudn't be my friends or wudn't talk to me if they come to know about it.

I'm 19 years old and don't wanna have braces and also can anyone tell me how much it would cost to get invisalign onto the teeth or any other alternative to metal braces. (I live in britain). Money is an important factor too, cuz I'm a student & have to manage all my expenses on my own.
Any advice is highly appreciated (plz no rude or stupid comments)

You know that sort of horrible morning breath taste in your mouth you get. Well it feels like that to me all day long even after brushing my teeth lots and mouthwash and tounge scraper etc. I have seen a doctor and been to hospital about it but they say they can see nothing wrong. I have even asked my friends and they say I don;t have bad breath, but deep down I don;t think they have got that close to me to actually smell it. It worries me so much. People say I am paranoid, but I really don't think that I am. And this sort of thing has a major effect on ones life. Anyone else ever feel theyhave this problem?

Every night, I'm in agony - the left side of my jaw and all of its teeth hurt... I can't sleep. Every night I'm suffering. I went to the dentist on Thursday. He took two X-Rays and couldn't find anything of note. He took another x-ray from a different angle, and still, he didn't see anything obvious - said he didn't see abcesses, or anything - just some deep fillings he thought might be wondered about. A tap test didn't really result in anything - I didn't feel anything tied to any of the spots he tapped. And during the day, I really don't notice anything.

He didn't prescribe antibiotics. he talked about "dying teeth" as a potential thing that might be happening, but didn't say he saw anything on the x-rays, and he didn't do anything for me... even kind of said 'sorry I didn't find anything definitive.'

But I suffer - every night. So I did some Internet research on my own. The Wikipedia article for "pulpitus" sounds a lot like my symptoms, particularly "pulpitis can create so much p

I don't have my wisdom teeth yet but they are coming i can feel them in my gums. I'm afraid to have them removed because i've heard stories about how some people have died because the doctors drugged them up so they wouldn't feel any pain and left them alone and the person choked to death or something like that. I don't want that to happen to me. I'm scared. Can anyone give me any advice on this subject?

At first, I thought it was a piece of food stuck between my teeth and gums, but when it wouldn't come out by itself and I'm scared to pull it out.

What is it? Is it safe to remove? Is it an infection because of the surgery?

HELP!!

What was it like? How was recovery? How long to heal? Etc.
I have to have all 4 done next week. Plus one of them is so impacted and coming in all crooked it has actually caused one of my molars to become abscessed. WORST PAIN EVER. I am on antibiotics and pain killers. So yes, I am having a grand total of 5 teeth out - more than my son has in his mouth! I have always been religious about my dental hygeine because I hate going to the dentist. I am worrying myself into a frenzy over it.
