You may have a dry socket. If the pain is a throbbing that travels down your jaw line then I would say that is what you have. A dry socket can become a serious problem. Gently rinse your mouth out with warm salt water a few times. Afterwards aplly some oragel around the area. If it doesn't straighten up in a couple of days I would definetly go see a dentist. Even if you are on vacation I'm sure that you can one to take care of you. Goodluck

Try rinsing your mouth out with a warm salt water solution. Really get the solution moving over the gum where your tooth used to be. Are you sure you didn't get food stuck there? Do the salt rinse every couple of hours. This helps draw any possible infection out of the gum.
You are NOT going to enjoy your vacation. You should have gone back to the dentist with your concerns three days ago! Any necessary follow up should have been taken care of free of charge.

Call your dentist and ask him/her. If you're in pain and the medication isn't working, there should be something the dentist can do. It sounds like you have a dry socket and those are very painful.

Don't wait! GO to the dentist! You could have dry socket, which I've had and it's extremely painful, and could lead to infection! That means the blood didn't clot over the extraction location, so no skin started healing over. MAKE TIME TO GO!

After a week, you should have no significant pain from an extraction. See the dentist. You may have some other problem.
