I'm debating on metal or invisalign/orthoclear. For money sake I'm leaning towards the metal, but for physical/looks sake, it's invisalign. But until they are straighter, the clear will just look like my crowded teeth right now. Do either hurt more or less? I figure they're both doing the same thing to your teeth so they will hurt equally but I'm still debating. Any advice would be appreciated!

How old are you?

Don't worry about it. I have braces right now. With crooked teeth like mine (used to be) its going to take only 14 months because i get them tightened every 2 weeks instead of three. there are more options to have them on and off quicker.

I'm a adult with braces and it's the smartest thing I've done in years. My braces come off October 30th! Check with an orthodontist regarding the Invisalign - not everyone can wear Invisalign. If you have a lot of crowding you may not be able to wear Invisalign. There is an adjustment period after getting braces. There will be pain and discomfort but it doesn't last a long time. You'll be amazed at how fast your teeth will move. Don't put it off - schedule an appointment now with an orthodontist. Good luck!

Invisalign is more costly up front because of the lab fees, but treatment time may be decreased by months depending on your case. All my patients have been very satisfied with the results. Steel braces break and prevent you from eating and drinking many foods, and cleaning is very difficult.

Metal.... I've had them before and they are not embarassing. after the first day I wore them, people forgot I was wearing them.. If you're a rich kid or a model, then go for the invisalign, if not then join in on the millions of people who have worn metal braces. besides it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

they hurt just the same.
The clear ones are suppose to be aesthetically better. If you ask me, the clear ones look like you haven't brushed your teeth in ages! it jus looks dirty, until a person realizes they are braces. but the metal silver ones they're known, and well yeah, it's not that aesthetically pleasing.
Consider the ones that are from the inside of the jaw!?

My orthodontist says the invisiline do not work as effectively as the metal. I have heard they hurt up in the gumline (invisiline). The metal only hurt your cheeks and tear them up. They dont hurt too much when tightened, at least not to me. My main gripe is the torn cheeks and inside the lip. The wax they give is nasty, looks nasty and smells nasty.

hmm. dont feel embarrased to get metal braces that are visible. you are nevere too old to wear braces.
i have seen many adults wear braces.
theres always going to be pain cause no matter what, your teeth are going to move either way.
the results matter, not the looks, so if i were you, i would get the metal ones. xP

look, either way your teeth are gonna get fixed and there are millions of people who have metal braces. Who care what you look like with them on...care about what your gonna look like after. Plus some people actually like the look of braces.
