I researched it online and it looks scary. I have never been terrified of dentists but I am very, very nervous about this. I need to have it done on one tooth before I get my bridge done.

I am thinking of doing crown for my front teeth (top). However, I am lost over which is a better option...i.e. Porcelain Crown vs. Empress Crown. What's the pros & cons ? Costs ?Is it true that veneers can create alot of problems vs. crown ? I noticed that most dentists in Singapore would prefer to do crown instead of veneer.

I have thin gums that are receding. From the advice of other people on Yahoo! Answers, I have started to floss regularly, and brush with a softer toothbrush as well as a toothpaste that is not abrasive. I have started to use Listerene Cool MInt Antiseptic Mouthwash. Is this bad for my gums? I am really concerned about them and I dont want to take any chances.

I am having my top teeth extracted and getting a plate. The procedure is Thursday and I am doing with conscience sedation. It take a pill Wed night and 1 an hour before the appointment. They tell me I will be awake but won't care what is going on. I'm a little nervous. Hasve yopu or someone you know been sedatged like this? Does time fly? Will I really be aware of my surroundings?

I'm on my way of getting braces, and I have to wear a palet expander. Its been almost a week (on Tuesday it will be a week) and my Mom will stop turning it. But while I was eating it came off, I popped it back in but it's loose. Is it a good thing, meaning it expanded or should I talk to my orthodotist?

I had a root canal done on #30 and I was prescribed Amoxicillin 500MG capsules. My father told me that it is not a good idea to take antibiotics just because he believes so. I googled my question and the result was a 1999 article where two endodontist said that antibiotics should never be taken after Root Canal Therapy because the antibiotics would not even reach the tooth since no blood reaches the canals making it useless and dangerous to take antibiotics. At the time, I am afraid to take the pills and I am afraid of what might happen if I dont take the pills.

I have a lot of porcelain crowns that I've had for about 8 years. Now they are beginning to give me problems. I have spent sooooo much money on my teeth throughout my life, and have always taken good care of them, but I still have problems constantly. My teeth are just brittle and now the crowns are starting to loosen. I am seriously thinking about dentures. My question is: Will they look like my normal teeth used to look or will they make me look totally different. I don't want it to be obvious to everyone and I don't want it to change my appearance other than just having pretty white teeth. Any advice or info?? I'm scared to do it, but I'm tired of constantly worrying about my teeth.

I had some dental work done, two teeth side by side - one with a root canal, and the other with a very deep filling. Ever since, I get a metalic tang that tastes bad every now and again, and sometimes it tastes a bit like the spices in mulled wine. It is coming from the area of the filled teeth. Will this go away on its own, or do I need to go back to my dentist?

At age 76, I have now joined the 'toothless brigade'!

I have a real job, keeping my lower dentures in place, especially when I am eating things like a steak, a toffee, an apple, a stick of celery, etc.

I've tried using those preparations that keep ones dentures in place, but honestly, they don't work all that well.

My dentist has said that I may need to have my dentures remodelled (or was it relined?).

However, do you know of any other way, that will help me cope, when I eat 'hard' food?

(I don't really fancy being out and about, with no bottom denture, during the three to four days required, for remodelling (relining) my plate.)

Please advise me sensibly.

I just broke a piece of my tooth...it hurts BAD...my problem is, my dentist is no longer accepting my Insurance after Aug 31st, and has no appointments until after then anyway. The new dentist that my ins company changed me over to will not accept me as a new patient until after the 31st because "technically" I am still a patient at my old dentist...any suggestions??
