I haven't been for a long time, but I brush my teeth day and night and take good dental caare. I guess I will go if and when I have a problem but people always comment on my beautiful smile.

Some problems will get wiorse the longer they are left to fester so maybe you should just go for a check up, there would be no obligation on you after that.
If you don't trust em, ask a friend to recommend one,

I trust dentists but I'm absolutely terrified of going the last time I went which was a while ago I was crying my eyes out and that was just in the waiting room, I never had a bad experience at the dentists (well apart from going) so I don't know where this fear comes from. I would do absolutely anything else than go to the dentists, just the thought of going makes me feel ill.

Not all dentists are trustworthy but most are. I think that you should choose a dentist by talking to friends and family. If you don't like the one that you first see then go see another. If you like the dentist, it's easier to establish a trust in their abilities and advice. Don't worry that it has been 11 years--take confidence in the knowledge that you are taking steps to get your teeth and mouth healthy and don't worry that anyone will judge your teeth. Trust me the dentist will have seen worse in their career. They are not there to belittle you for not going for 11 years. They should be there to encourage you to maintain a healthy smile and get you back on track. Good luck and I am proud that you are going to the dentist.

I go to the dentist 5 days a week and sit thisclose to one all day long!! Yes, I trust her; she's damn smart and has a good sense of humor. That's why I work for her. Now, you not having been to the dentist in 11 years is no problem. I see folks like you at least twice a week and you're my favorite people to see. You have finally built up the courage to go and are usually very impressed/surprised by how much dentistry has changed. Ask your friends, family or co-workers who they go to and if they like them; they'll point you in the right direction. Good luck!

Avoided the dentist for years until i couldnt bear the pain any longer.
I started to go and got a wonderful dentist. I started my treatment and carried on going every 2 weeks untill my teeth were sorted.
I have never looked back and so glad that i did it as my teeth are good now.
But then again old habits die hard as they have been ringing me to come back for a check up for the last 2 years.
But anyway go for it and just get it over and done with and you will be thrilled with thw results

Been going to same dentist for over 20 years..trust him implicitly and don't want him ever ever to retire. You should go every six months just to get a check up and a professional clean.

I went last year after 6 years, but i look after my teeth, floss regularly and don`t drink much fizzy stuff or smoke.
So if u don`t have any major problem, the dentist will probably just scrape of any tartar build up and clean them, all very quick and painless.
