Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about your gum recession, your gums have a one time chance to be there, and because of the dipping, the cells have dyied off. These cells will never come back. You now have to start a program forever that involves you doing several things.
1. No more DIP!
2. Soft bristle brush
3. Sensitivity control toothpaste, you may have noticed your teeth feel more sensitive to warm and cold beverages, it's because of the recession some more areas of your tooth/teeth are exposed that are not capable of protecting the nerves from hot/cold.
4. Regularly scheduled visits to your dentist to protect yourself against oral cancers. Just because you aren't a current user of DIP (I know you can quit) there still is a risk for oral cancer.
Good Luck

well, you know, already, that tobacco usage is a no-no when it comes to good oral hygiene. With that said, I'm not gonna get onto your case about quitting because you already know what you need to do. :)
As for gums receeding... that's a sign that isn't good. Try putting the tobacco in other areas of the mouth to give your usual area a break for a few days and let it try to heal on it's own. And please, when you visit the dentist office next time, mention your concern with the doctor and hygienist. There are there to help you, to answer your questions the best they can.
Good luck!

STOP DIPPING!! I am sure your sick of that answer. You need to really take extra care of your oral health. Brush downward towards your gums in a circular motion and use listerine often. It sounds like your going to have a lot of trips to the periodontist. Just brush your gums as often as you can and try chewing gum. Good luck

Quit dipping. Not only can it cause your gum line to recede but it can also cause cancer of the mouth. AND most of all it is so disgusting. Visit this web site for more info.
