I am 26 and have never been to the gynecologist. I have also never been sexually active, and never had any problems. I have recently been having problems with my menstrual cycle though, and want to set up an appt, and I will.

The thing is, I am scared, not just of the doctor visit but that the dr. will scold me for never getting checked anyway. I know that this sounds childish but I have always been that way about doctors and medicine and such. Luckily, I have never been a sickly person.

I definitely plan to go to the doctor and start getting checkups. I just wanted to know if it is that uncommon that women wait long after they are 18 to go to the gyno. It is bad, what should I expect?

I really have bad cramps and bloating during my period, and I know I look really sick, like having a pale face, being quiet, and sometimes when i'm really in pain it shows on my face. How do I tell my co-workers/boss when they ask? obviously i don't want the entire office to know that I'm having my period, and I don't want to take sick leaves, because it adds up to more than 12 days a year. I do take some PMS control pills, but it doesn't do much for me... what's the best way to let people know that I'm okay, it's just PMS?

Hi my mum had a mamogram 2 weeks ago and has been asked to go to the hospital tomorrow. The letter states she should bring someone with her. Does that mean she has cancer? Will they do a biopsy on the lump before confirming? What happens? Im really worried.

Ok, I am 13 and I was wondering, what temperature starts a fever? Cause this morning i checked it and it was like, 99.7 or something and it went a little up. I need your opinion- I am very new to diabetes. I am 21 weeks pregnant and just found out I am diabetic. They don't believe it is gestational. I am 22 yrs old, 4'11 90lbs. I have autoimmune hepatitis diagnosed when I was 16. (my immune system attacks my liver) Along with the diabetes I found out I have a very under active thyroid. All of these things that are wrong with me are like the complete opposite of my body type. An underactive thyroid would cause you to gain weight right? Type 2 diabetes usually occurs in heavier people right? I had no symptoms of ANYTHING. My docs are still pretty baffled so I don't get good answers from them- do you guys think any of this could be related to the other? I was also wondering how an insulin pump works? My levels are CRAZY- my fasting level is sometimes over 300 so the docs mentioned if it doesn't get under control we may need to use a pump. I already take 5 shots a day (Humalog and Humalin) so how would a pump be different? I AM SO CONFUSED!!

My friend recently contracted an STD (Chlamydia) from her boyfriend. Of course he flipped the script and it's blaming her for it. He said that he went to the doctor yesterday and was tested, and it came back negative. He also told her that his doctor said that she probably had the stuff for the past 10 months. Mind you they've been having sex the entire time, but he doesn't have it??? I told her that this is absurd; I truly believe that he had it. Then he gave it to her, and once he found out, he took care of it. I know that she's soooo in love with him, and at this point is willing to forgive him. The only problem is that I strongly feel he's going to do this again. He travels a lot, and he's living the fast life. My friend has (2) little girls that need their mother; what if she catch something worst the next time? then what happens?? I wish I could find tangible proof that shows her that he's lying about not having the STD. Help! thanks! nini :-( FYI....He's an attorney.

Could it be because:
1. I get between 6/7hours sleep and have to get up at 6am (all summer I slept in to about 11!)
2. I don't have a good diet but I eat breakfast every morning no matter what the stomach forecast is
3. I get nervous easily.. I don't see many people here in the country and then when I get to school.. BOOM!

I get a really sick feeling in my stomach every morning.. it lasts all day.. with a few headaches included.. I drink 2 painkillers.. doesn't do anything.

I can't enjoy making new friends and stuff with this bokey feeling... really sux.

Do anymore students have this? why is it?

Yesterday I was at Sonic and I had gotten my daughter a grape slush and it was nowhere near to being filled up. When the guy came to bring the food to the take out stall, he said he would be back to give me the credit card receipt, I asked him to please fill the drink up to the top. He said sure no problem. I immediately regretted this. Ever since last night I have been worried that he may have spit in the drink (because I asked him to put more in the glass). This was the drink that I gave my daughter. This guy seemed really nice, but he could have just been pretending of course. I am just terrified of what diseases could have been in the glass if he really did spit in it. Could you get AIDS from someone's spit? This is all I can think about now. I am so worried that my daughter will have AIDS now or something else. I am never going to send anything back again. Do you guys think I am just freaking out or do you think people really spit in drinks these days? I am in Ohio.

I had an unconventional childhood, being the oldest of 4 my parents would argue like crazy then i'd be the one trying to reason with them, listening to their crap.We never had a stable home, we were on the streets at one point and lived in a tent for 6 months.Eventually we went on the run but the police caught us & took us into care.My mum has a mental illness, she burnt her wedding dress in the garden,would scream and smash things,rock back n forth sobbing & my dad would get me to try to talk her round.I could go on and on with even more shocking things but it hurts to talk about.When i was about 10 or 11 i took an overdose of my mums pills, the first day i think i took vitamins & nothing happened so the next day i took 23 different pills & i collapsed, i was supposed to see a physciatrist at the hospital but my dad said they'd get the blame so he took me before i could speak to anyone. Question Details: In the past, I took a lot of Tylenol for my extreme migraines and menstrual cramps. I recently learned that Tylenol (or any acetaminophen) can really damage your liver. I want to know if I can reverse the damage that might occur, or prevent it from occurring. Also, are there any natural alternatives to ease migraine/cramp pain? I know some OTC painkillers are plant based, but I don't know if acetaminophen is. Please help.
