Yesterday I was at Sonic and I had gotten my daughter a grape slush and it was nowhere near to being filled up. When the guy came to bring the food to the take out stall, he said he would be back to give me the credit card receipt, I asked him to please fill the drink up to the top. He said sure no problem. I immediately regretted this. Ever since last night I have been worried that he may have spit in the drink (because I asked him to put more in the glass). This was the drink that I gave my daughter. This guy seemed really nice, but he could have just been pretending of course. I am just terrified of what diseases could have been in the glass if he really did spit in it. Could you get AIDS from someone's spit? This is all I can think about now. I am so worried that my daughter will have AIDS now or something else. I am never going to send anything back again. Do you guys think I am just freaking out or do you think people really spit in drinks these days? I am in Ohio.

I very much doubt that aids is a possibility, the aids virus needs a very specific environment to live, the ice in the drink would have killed it immediately, so relax on that score. Hepatitis B is a possibility if he had it, but food workers are checked regularly for this and cannot work if they have it. I think you just need to relax and stop worrying about it.

Yes, people do spit in drinks, but I think you are just freaking out. Unless you were rude to him, I don't see why he would do that.
You can get AIDS from spit, but it would have to be a lot of spit. Plus, if he did have AIDS and knew it and still spit in the drink, he could go to jail.

yes people really do spit in drinks. No you cannot get AIDS from someone spitting in the cup. The only way you could possibly get AIDS is from HIV.... HIV cannot be spread from saliva. It has to be through direct contact, such as passionate kissing and both parties involoved would have to have open sores or bleeding gums, etc.

QUIT WORRYING! Especially about things which you have no control.

stop worrying so much! believe it or not there actually are nice people out there working in the food service industry!u made a simple request which was granted by the chap who served u - it wasn't as tho u asked for his firstborn child or insulted his mom so the likelihood of him spitting in the drink is negligible. I'm sure its nothing to worry about.

It is possible that he spit in the drink, but there is no way she got any STD from someone's spit.

Take a deep breath and realize that your thoughts are borderline irrational. Everything will be just fine.

Don't listen to Bruce J.
No, you cannot get AIDS from spit. Only blood and semen or vaginal fluid. No need to worry about the AIDS, but yes its kind of freaky thinking if he spat in your drink or not.
If there was any spit, it's probably out of her system by now but if you need closure, have her tested.

You are just freaking out.

The guy gave no signs that he was upset.

Even though, theoretically, a person could become exposed to HIV from spit, the chances of actually developing HIV is very slim. Your daughter would have to have an open sore in her mouth and just be generally unlucky. Stomach acids would kill the virus after that point.

This is more an undisclosed case of racial bias more likely than not. The man was probably a different race than you, and without knowing it, you are discriminating against him.

stop worrying about it, its very unlikely that anyone did anything other than fill the drink up.... There is a manager on duty and sonic is a very small place inside, i really doubt that he would risk his job because you wanted more slushie... Just breathe... If your daughter is ok then everything is fine.

Did you watch them pour the original drink? That could have already had spit in it...
And yes, you're "just" freaking out.

I think you're sincerely over reacting. If you're so worried, take your daughter in for a blood test, or ask a real doctor, not a bunch of hacks online haha
