My boyfriend slipped and fell off the bath tub and hurt his ribs, and found out that there's hairline crack on his rib cage. So is there a way that can help him heal faster? Can restrain from movement help? By taking in more calcium? thank you for your answers

calcium citrate (not gluconate or carbonate) will help the healing process, but it will still heal at it's own pace. Normal movement will not slow the process as the ribs are fairly immobilized by the intercostal tissues that surround them. He will be sore for a while, but that is to be expected. He should avoid heavy lifting for about a month, and then he can return to his former level of activity.

Sorry but there is not much you can do to make it heal faster. That is controlled by genetics and his overall health. The bone will knit back together at it's own predetermined pace. You can try wrapping the rib cage tightly with an ACE bandage. This will help keep the ribs immobile while it heals.

The problem with taken extra vitamins and minerals is that the body will only absorb the amount it needs and then you will void off the rest. Taking extra Calcium can cause other problems depending upon his current overall health situation.

Just rest it. Don't do anything crazy like riding dirt bikes or anything to straineous for a good while. I should know I've broken plenty of bones.
