I have been stunned over the last couple of days at the number of people asking about weights and exercise. They speak as if they are going to a gym, but seem to have no guidance when they are there. I know some gyms in the USA don't do this, but is this the norm?
A gym SHOULD provide, as part of the membership of the gym, a programme consultation every six weeks as a minimum. A good gym (in my experience) will also provide a fitness assessment to start, plus progress assessments every 6 or 12 weeks. They should show clients how to use all required equipment and how to perform each exercise.
If this isn't happening, you guys need to start demanding it! People power!
