Interesting thought. I am not sure theoriginal intention of anti-depressants was to silence women, but I imagine an off-label use would be to help a population in general put up with and deal with a lot more stress and aggravation than they should. The plan is to get the person thinking clearly so they can better cope with the issues at hand. Anti-depressants should always go hand-in-hand with cognitive-behavioral therapy. When you stop the anti-depressants, you can get depressed, but if you go to therapy, you learn skills and change thinking patterns that lasts your whole life, without the drugs. So...I would rather doctors deal with the actual problem rather than medicate the patient so they can cope with their crappy life. If your partner is pissing you off, a pill won't fix it. I like your thoughts on this. Hmmmm.

Anti-depressants are not used to silence us. However, from experience i know they slow down your thinking process- they are designed to stop you over reacting to situations that normally you have trouble in dealing with efficiently. They do make you sleep at times and give you a couldn't care less attitude- they should be called supressants! I would suggest that you actually get some counselling and learn to deal with problems - anti-depressants never do anyone any favours- they just mask problems. Until you have dealt with these issues you cannot function properly.

yea they put women anti-piss offs in them .. u should really see a solution to ur problems with ur bf and leave the anti-depressants a side for a bit ..
i never actually believed in antidepressant despite having to learn about them .. they are exactly what u say they are .. they shut u up so basically u cant express ur feelings !! this is why they are anti-depressents coz they depress ur feelings and emotions .. and i really dont want things which do that ..

no, they are designed to help people cope. when you take them you ignore him because you are copping and either you are thinking you don't care what he is saying or you realise it is reasonable.
when you don't take them you, are more likely to fly off the handle due to increased stress through not coping so, you probably blame a lot more on him.
If there was a drug to quieten down women, it would have been put in the water suppy by men years ago, we would not just be targeting you.

Are you paranoid as well as depressed? Antidepressants may assist you in acting more rationally because you are more chemically sound but they won't silence you. Would you rather be someone who rants and raves and drives everyone away.

Your comments suggest a psychological problem rather than depression. Go see your GP again as it is more likely you would benefit from some counselling.

No. I guess you are getting indifferent to your partner, which means a whole lot of things.
