Might be a question on a Human Phys test that covers skeletal, cardiovascular phys, blood flow, and mechanics of breathing. I'm having trouble coming up with a detailed answer.

I went to the doctor and told her that my neck sometimes got a bit swollen. She checked it out and at first glance she said I might have a thyroid problem and possibly a goiter. I took the blood test and everything came back normal. I was wondering what were some of the symptoms of someone who has had it. Could it be that there is something wrong but not noticable yet? Some of the things that I have been experiencing is persistant nausea, breathing problem which is not caused by asthma, and some more than usual hair loss. Is this something that could be related? Any information would help. Thanks.

No, I don't need a detox to cleanse my system for an upcoming drug test. I smoke cigarettes, I don't drink alcohol but I drink a LOT of coffee, I definitely don't do drugs of any kind, way, shape or form. I just want to feel better and detox my body of all the sludge that'll be left over in my system after the holidays. I can do pills, but I'm not too keen on tea.

I went to the doctor with concerns over a brain defect I have. I have been experiencing more symptoms related to the defect and I wanted some tests to ensure that it isn't getting worse. The end result of it worsening could be paralysis, so naturally I'm concerned. The first thing he said was that it must be stress causing my symptoms. Frankly I don't feel that I am under any stress at all, I'm feeling pretty good about my life in general. The only stress I have is a doctor who doesn't listen. I also live in an area where it isn't easy to get a new family doctor. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with a doctor who thinks that anything a woman complains about is in her head or due to stress?

My girlfriend has herpes. She was a virgin before sleeping with me, so I know she didn't get it from another person. Her father had herpes, and it transmitted down to her. Sometimes when she get stressed she'll get outbreaks on her mouth, but I think so far she's clean down there. Anyway, my questions is 1) if I have unprotected sex with her would I catch herpes? 2) is this herpes spreadable? Since it's genetic. Thanks

My husband grew up with a very sick mother. She refused to ever seek help, but I have an inkling that she suffered from bipolar disorder or something of the sort. My husband as many unresolved issues and becomes very angry/upset when his mind isn't occupied. Should he talk to a psychologist or a psychiatrist? Should he seek alternative help? I am at a loss. He really does have some pretty bad anger issues...hence the reason we have two holes in our bedroom door. He's not abusive towards me at all, he just gets angry over very small things sometimes (not always). My talking to him doesn't help, so I haven't a clue. Any advice?

I get these super painful headaches like someone’s hitting me wit a sledge hammer and they can last for up to 4 hours and they go away but like 1/2 and hour lt8r there back again. And they get gradually worse and they progress and panadol doesn't help or any other self help method sometimes they are so bad that I feel as if I’m going to pass out, and I get double vision and I feel really thirsty even though I drink like a camel seriously I drink like a whole glass of water every 10 mins that how much I drink and I eat enough food, and that sort of stuff and yeah! I have one now and is there any way of fixing them other than going to the docs because I can’t go my self and my rents’ won’t take me cause they don’t believe me

Earlier I asked a lengthy quesiton in the pregnancy forum about my story but I think maybe I should have come straight to the point. Has anyone had gastric bypass surgery? Was it helpful/effective for you in battling obesity? Would you do it again? I am currently pregnant with my second child (both children will be 14 months apart in age). I have been morbidly obese since puberty and both of my parents are exactly the same and have heart disease, diabetes, and health problems from weight. I am lucky that I haven't developed any of it and plan to have this procedure a year or so after I have this baby (May 2008). So if you have any advice or experience with this procedue please share.

I give myself an enema every 3 nights until the water runs clear. I don't poop for about 3 days after I do that, that's why when I start to poop again, I just do it again. I use the biggest volume of water possible so that it REALLY shoots through my system and unclogs all the fecal matter on the walls of my intestines. I've seen cases of fecal impaction where people have about 3-5 feets of feces caked to their intestinal walls and have to have it scraped out and I do NOT want that! That's why I do this, but people tell me to stop? Why? What am I doing that's so wrong? I dont want to have problems pooping in my future!

I was on the depo shot for about a year. My peiod went away the next month. After 8 months on the shot I bled for about 40 days. I took my last shot in May. 3 months later I bled for 6 weeks and now nothing. I have been waiting almost 2 months for another period and it doesn't show any signs of coming back. Has this happened to anyone else?
While on the depo shot I gained about 5lbs every week. My migranes increased (they were already bad to begin with). I went to my doctor ever month or so because something was always hurting but all my bloodwork always came back okay. Even though I would feel worse and worse I never went back to the doctor about my problems because I didnt want them to think I was a hypochondriac. Now that I am off the shot I am fine. My OBGYN says that I should have never been on it. I say if you feel abnormal or your body hurts while you are on the shot please go to your OBGYN and tell him/her it might be the shot.
