There are two types of herpes, type I and type II. Either can affect the face or genitals, but the types do have preferences. Type I perfers to live in the nerves that supply the face, lips, tip of the nose, brain. Type II prefers the nerves at the base of the spine that supply the genitals and butt. Herpes isn't genetic. It's a contagious virus that is passed from person to person from direct contact, related or not. Type I is extremely common and usually happens on the lips or the tip of the nose, tho it can infect the brain (that's rare).
If you have been kissing her, and she has had it on her mouth than you have already been exposed. This is the same virus as what people call "cold sores" or "fever blisters." They tend to come out when the body is already fighting another bug--very opportunistic. There is no difference between the two types of herpes other than their preference of location.
If she has genital herpes (type II), which a woman can get on her mouth if she has touched her lips to the virus somewhere on someone's genitals or butt (a condom won't protect anyone from herpes, nor will virginity), then yes, she can give it to your lips or your genitals. Even if she just has the cold sore variety, Type I, on her lips, she can put it on your genitals.
But before you freak out about that last sentence, keep in mind that something like 80% of adults have been exposed to Type I by the time they reach adulthood. And if it is Type I, you have probably already been exposed from kissing her (or your family or someone else) and have built up some immunity to it now. Combine that with the fact that Type I isn't really that interested in living in the genital nerves, and you probably don't have to worry about it. It's possible, but unlikely that she will give you oral herpes on your gentitals, especially if you don't kiss or do things when she has any signs of an oncoming or healing outbreak. That immunity to type I probably won't protect you from Type II though, in case you are wondering.
Something you need to know is that herpes, both types, shed virus (meaning that the area that has been infected in the past is producing live and contagious cells there) on and off even when there are no symptoms of an outbreak. That's how she probably got it from her dad, probably quite young, too. If dad has it mom probably does too, though, so who knows? The family has been exposed as have most families.
So...to determine your risk, you need to know which type she has on her lips, Herpes I or Herpes II

I got identified with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about five years ago, whilst I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I know lots of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date other men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/3DgX6 everything got better.
Not only was I able to eradicate all traces of the herpes virus from my body in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This system provided the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

Herpes simples 1 is what is appears on the mouth most of the time-Herpes simplex 2 is usually below the waist- but either type can appear above or below the waist-I have heard of babies getting herpes in their eyes during birth- but no other way- and herpes simplex 1 -most everyone has had it- and stress and other things like that makes it act up-D

There is no evidence that herpes is hereditary. For some reason, I don't believe that she got it through the gene. It's impossible. The only other reason that I can deduct from this is that she was abused by the father and she just does not want to admit it. No offense. Yes you will catch 1. if you kiss her or have any kind of sexual contact. that's why it's called an STD-sexually transmitted disease.

she didn't get herpes from her father. unless he had a cold sore and kissed her and gave it to her that way. genital herpes and cold sores/fever blisters aren't completely the same thing. she doesn't need to be giving you oral when she has a sore on her mouth/ lips.
