When my Mom found that she had cancer, the doctor said "she has ten days". She made it about 16 weeks. I hope your Dad gets more time, too, good quality time with you. I hope he is in a good facility or has home hospice who can keep him from pain. My Mom was in the Connecticut Hospice, the first hospice built in the US. People there did not hurt. They were also lucid at least some of the time until near the end. I don't think it's possible to be ready to lose a parent you love. I know that I do get more ready to accept when there you see how sick they are and know they can't get well again.
I am so sorry that your Dad is so sick.

Try to remember all the good times with your Dad. When my Dad was dying I remembered how he took me sledding when I was very little , how he taught me to fly a kite, pushed me on the swing and all sorts of loving things. It helps to know how much you loved each other.

Love never dies.

dealing with the lost of a parent is one of the hardest things that I had to go through. The best thing you can do is relish the time that you have left. Do everything to make him comfortable. Take
pictures of him and you together during happier times. Video tape
him talking. This will help later on. Last but not least by all mean- pray to God for strenght because God promised to never leave you nor forsake you.

I'm really sorry to hear about your father. I guess my only advice would be to allow yourself the time to grieve, and to see a professional if you feel that you need to. Take care of yourself.
