I need a healthy, classy, tasty vegetarian item I can bring to a pot-luck dinner that doesn't involve cooking, something I can pick up from a grocery store. I'm temporarily staying in a hotel and have no access to a kitchen. The dinner is tonight!

I do a lot of cooking and this question has perplexed me. When a recipe calls for chili powder how do I know if the recipe is calling for chili powder made from ground chili peppers or is it a chili powder made with chili, cumin, oregano...etc?

The recipe I am looking for is not the "puppy chow" or "muddy buddies" one. It more of a chocolate peanut cluster-sweet & salty and very addictive.

Last night I was asking a question about making mini cheese cakes. Someone said not to use a muffin cup- just put them in a non stick pan. Why? My pan is technically non-stick, but realistically sticky. What about the aluminum foil liners instead of paper ones?
I want to make the really tiny (one bite) size muffin tin with a traditional cheese cake- the recipe that is just cheese, eggs and sugar- so they should be pretty firm. Does that make a difference in what I use?

I have a recipe for Johnnycakes which I have never made before (I'm in New Zealand, and no one here really eats them, or pretty much anything with cornmeal!). I've made the batter but it looks too runny....

Here's the recipe:
1 large egg
1 cup stone ground cornmeal
1 3/4 cups whole milk
4 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon salt

Will those proportions work or how can I fix it?

I have veggies and plain cooked noodles...I want to add a bit of oil to taste. How much oil do you add? It's 2 cups of veggies...and 2 cups of noodles when cooked. I don' t want my food to be so oilly it becomes nasty...just to taste. Also what's the best oil to use?

I have two sirloin filets in airtight packages that I am thawing in warm water. It's 1AM so I don't have time to let it thaw at room temperature. I hear it's not good to thaw the meat at high heat because of the bacterial reproduction. Is this really harmful even though I will be grilling them to medium?

My names Vincent and half my mates call me Vinnie and half Vince. But i just want to keep one and get everybody calling me that.. but i dont know which one. I know this seems like a daft question but its been bugging me for a while now. Oh, and btw my surnames Tunney (pronounced 'tu-nee') if that helps because i think Vince goes better with that than Vinnie but.....
