I need a healthy, classy, tasty vegetarian item I can bring to a pot-luck dinner that doesn't involve cooking, something I can pick up from a grocery store. I'm temporarily staying in a hotel and have no access to a kitchen. The dinner is tonight!

Hummus, pita chips, and some nice grapes.

A good crusty french bread and some brie or tapenade.

An olive or cheese tray.

How about ordering a small cheese tray from a neaby deli or grocery store. Also, at this time of the year there are some beautiful pies and cakes ready to go! Stuffed breads, like foccacia, are great, too.

Just walk through the supermarket deli section.
I've seen nice looking fruit salads, waldorf salads - apple chunks with nuts, and some decent looking jello salads.

If you want the assemble something yourself, you can buy prepackaged lettuce, nuts and fruits to make your own fancy "waldorf" salad.

Also, if you live near a Trader Joe's (and maybe supermarkets have this too) is packaged salad kits that include the dressing and extras.

I would go with something that keeps tune with the Thanksgiving theme, but it doesn't have to be "traditional". You could do something fun, like scoop out two acorn squashes, cook the fruit with margarine and brown sugar in one of the squashes, then take it out and transfer it to the other uncooked shell. Cover it with bread crumbs and maybe a bit of shredded cheese (since you said they were lacto). You could carve the top of it to look fancy. It's just one idea, but there are plenty of vegetable dishes that could be made to compliment a thanksgiving theme :) If I were you I'd just think more about presentation (fall platters, or garnish with one of those tiny pumpkins or gourds).

A salad. You need to buy a bowl, a giant container of salad and assorted dressings and you're ready to go!
