Any suggestions? I tried keeping them in the oven for an extra 5-8 min, they are crisp on the outside and keep their puff, but still uncooked inside. Help!

My daughter works for a day care center. Her job for Christmas is to make a Scottish dish. Probably on the order of cookies or small cakes. Something that would be paletable and eye appeling for them. Thank you. Lee

What is the shelf life of vanilla extract?

Also, I am making some Amish Friendship bread. The recipe calls for 1 cup of flour, but doesn't say if it should be all purpose or self rising..Which do you use?

Here is the starter recipe
STARTER RECIPE:

1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
Directions

Put in glass bowl or jar or large ziploc bag-stir or smoosh until well blended.
Let stand at room temp for 5 days, stir or smoosh each day.
On day 6 add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, and 1 cup milk, stir or smoosh until blended.
Let stand at room temp for 4 more days, stirring or smooshing each day.
On Day 10 you should have enough for 3 1 cup starters to give away plus 1 to use for your recipe.

This is an AWESOME bread, fun to make, but I am not sure about which flour to use..

Thanks for your help

I am trying to cut down on the sugar and oil in the baked goods I make such as breads, pies and cakes. Anyone know what is a good substitute for oil and/or sugar and how much should be used?

I'm making oatmeal muffins, and thinking about adding some cranberries from my freezer.
I know from making sauce that the berries have to pop to absorb sugar and become tasty.
Will the bake time in the oven be long enough for them to sweeten?
And if so, my recipe makes 2 dozen muffins. How much cranberry should I add?
Thanks for any advice.

Just curious...

My spice rack/cabinet/ table (Got lots, heh) is pretty full with most of the stuff you could think of. A bit of overkill really.
What do you guys think belongs in any respectable spice collection? The essentials? Neccessary extras?

We still have Turkey left and are getting tired of eating it.
Is it too late to just freeze it and have it at a later time, but still be safe?
