I just boiled the following left over vegetable from my fridge. They are bunches of chopped celery leaves, diced onions, strips of carrots and shredded cabbages. Can I add tomatoes ? What else should I add to create a flavorful soup ?

I want an easy receipe that doesn't involve deep frying, and I'm really looking for a spicey/salty/tangy sauce to accompany the wings! I eat out all of the time at my local breweries but I figure I can save a little money by making them myself. Any hints?

I'm a pretty experienced cook, except when it comes to baking. My husband likes meringue cookies, and I downloaded some recipies that seemed simple enough, except they didn't turn out like they're supposed to. I know the basic theory of meringue but I'm not good at it. It just doesn't seem fluffy enough, and when dried in the oven the cookies seem soft instead of crisp.

What could I be doing wrong? Adding the sugar at the wrong time? Over or under beating? Oven-drying at the wrong temp? I'd appreciate some advice on meringue, especially for cookies.

for the first time today, i tried making a chocolate cake from scratch. this is the recipe i used:
4 squares BAKER'S Unsweetened Baking Chocolate
1-3/4 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup water
1-2/3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
3 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla

for some reason, when it was finished baking, it was this shade of really light brown and wasn't sweet at all. it was still good, i was expecting something more chocolate color with more chocolate taste. is there something i can add to the recipe or if anyone knows what i might have done wrong?

I found this old box of brownie mix in my cuboard, and I thought I would make it. The caramel is a little old, so I warmed it up to soften it. I put the brownies in the oven, then think to look on the box for a best before date. Turns out, its dated March 1, 2003. Is it still going to be good (and safe) to eat?

My pork roast recipe calls for creole seasoning but the store didnt carry it. I picked up cajun seasoning as a substitute. Are they similar? Can someone describe the taste differences? Thanks

I have a bottle of pineapple sweet teriyaki sauce in the refrigerator, and I think it has been in there for at least 6 months. There isn't an expiration date on it, and it looks okay. Can I still use it?

I have a blueberry muffin recipe that calls for 1/3 cup of milk however I am all out of regular milk, I only have rice milk. Should i just leave it out or replace it with the rice milk? What will be the difference if there is no milk in these muffins?
