When we get together with my family for Thanksgiving, a certain family member keeps opening the oven door, like every 5 minutes, to pull the turkey out and check it. He says it doesn't make a difference - you gotta keep checking it so it doesn't overcook and dry out. The other family members are trying to convince him that by doing that, the oven cools off and it will take even longer to get the dang thing done! So, who is right?

And with what dish?
You can't say red with steak, and you can't say white with pasta or chicken.
Ready? No cheating, now!
GO!!!

about what features it should have. I'm seeing that some have only "Off, Low, High" and some say how many hours it will take to cook at the various settings, or maybe that's actually just the amount of time it will stay on before it cuts off. It's a bit confusing. If any crockpot owners can help me as far as what I should look for in a crockpot, I'd really appreciate it. I'll probably use it for beans, soups, pot roasts, etc.

I found this awesome recipe online and I got an urge to make it. Once I started pulling out all the ingredients, I realized I had no eggs. Will the cookies still taste okay if I just ignore the eggs? If not, do you have any good eggless recipes? :)

my Relay For Life committee and team captains are getting together and everyone is suppose to bring something. Just to nibble on like meatballs or spinach dip or a fruit/veggie tray so what are some good recipes. I'm tired of making the same old things.

ON JELLO:

Makes 24 servings. (1 piece each)
1. stir 2 1/2 cups of boiling water into 4pkg. ( 4-serving size each) gelatin in bowl 3 min until dissolved.
Pour into 13X9 inch pan

Does that mean 4 pakages? Or do I just need one package? It kinda threw me off on 4 pkgs 4 serving part.

I'm making cut outs in a glass cake sheet

The best ones that I have EVER eaten were at Vickery's Bar & Grill in S.C. and I cannot find the recipe for those... They had tons of sour cream.

I bought three pumpkins for halloween and do not know if they are field pumpkins for animals or pumpkins I could use to make pumpkins pies? Can anyone tell me the difference or what to look for?

Like I said , I'm making halloween cutouts and I just realized that I have different colors and not enough of just one. Will that kill the flavor to mix them? I'm just using what I have. Going out and getting extra stuff isnt an option.

I'd like to try this over the winter but I'm not sure where to start. I've seen a lot of conflicting opinions on cut of meat to use, recipes for spices, etc. on the net and I want to know what worked best for you.
Thanks!
