I tried to make some just now, and it tasted GOOD, but wonder if I might have under cook it since it taste a bit like dough. If anyone has timed the cook time, I GREATLY appreciate the input, and thanks a bunch.

I would've never thought to try this if it wasn't for Yahoo! Answers participants.

My understanding is that it originally meant the cooking and preserving of meat in its own fat - normall duck, goose, pork. Coming from the the French verb 'Confire' - 'To Preserve'

Now on menus you see Confit tomatoes, garlic, apples and more or less anything. So what does it mean in today's sense ?

I'm cooking dinner for my boyfriend and all the recipies that I find on the net are too complicated or have too many ingredients.. By the time I buy the fresh block of motzerella, tarragon, fresh bay leaves, the orange peel...oh yeah and the meat. it would've been easier and cheaper to have taken him to outback or something. Is there a sympathetic person who knows something simple to make that can look or can at least point me in the direction of it? If not a meal a likewise fabulous desert? Anything would be qreatly appreciated!

I would prefer something that's tried and tested. I tried searching thru Google. Got some good websites, but nothing that's exactly correct.

This is the bread that Ezekiel lived off of while he was in the desert for two years. It is supposed to be nutritionally complete.
