you get some really useless answers on here, don't you. One thing that works is to mix the powder to a paste with a bit of milk or water to a milkshake type consistency, then pour the rest of the liquid on, it does make it quite frothy. I use a cappucino frother which you can get for about a fiver or maybe even less from a boot sale or market (the ones with a battery in the handle) but you have to be careful and don't have the cup too full. My son likes those sachets of cappucino with pieces of chocolate in-they r a bit like hot choc and u don't have to whisk to get the froth.

Stand aside mere mortals ! Whisks ?! Pah !!!

Assuming you are using powdered mix, put your powder into your mug and then add a dash of milk.

Use your bog standard teaspoon and mix the powder into a sloppy paste and then continue to mix for about 10secs

Then just add the hot water.

It may take a bit of practice to get the consistency right but it is so much easier and cleaner than whisking

:¬)

Addendum - this will work whether you top it up with milk or water. After, some experimenting earlier tonight I can confirm that the wetter the paste, the less bubbles you get - try to get a sloppy cement-mix consistency

I use a regular whisk (in a mug) but one with a simply rounded handle and make the whisk spin by rubbing my hands together as if trying to light a fire with a stick. Creates a great foam - even better if you add a bit of milk (if you're using a 'add water' hot-choc).

You don't need any gadgets, or any elbow grease!! Mix your powder to a slush with a little milk in the bottom of your mug, then boil the rest of your milk in a saucepan, as it comes to the boil it froths up, pour into the mug and stir, easy peasy!!!!

Do you have an electric mixer? I think that would work better than pouring from a height! LOL You also have to make sure that you are using maybe whole milk, etc.
