even i did burn my cake once ,trying to get that golden crust. Now i know better. You have to change the setting of microwave to 'bake and grill' mode. not just microwave. Then put the dish in. The cooking time need to be supervised, but for the golden crust lift the dish with the stand provided to bring it near the coil at the roof of the M.w.The Microwaved cake batter tastes good, and can be used as a pudding.Ie with custard and fruits.

you might want to buy a microwave cookbook. most microwaves come with one when they are new. i don't know of a way to make a cake in a microwave, although there must be a receipe for one.

diferent microwaves have different powers, so i would suggest you stand by till it starts to get golden brownish. then compare that to the suggested time it takes to get to that color. then use this ratio to calculate time for other microwave recipes (to use on your microwave).

if you insist on owning a microwave "oven", i would suggest limiting its use to reheating rice and making popcorn. you'll probably get something closer to the taste of crusty golden brown vanilla cake if you boiled the cake batter. trust me, your family deserves better.
