I run a small Hotel and this weekend we have 20 athletes booked in for a thiathlon. I am hoping to serve a suitable dinner the night before and heard pasta would be good. I've decided, I think, on offering a choice of pasta carbonara, bolognaise and pasta with mushroom sauce (plus salad and bread). Any more useful suggestions or tips for an easy pudding?! Many thanks!

I bought some garlic from my local supermarket on the saturday, on the monday I used it in a recipe and the garlic didn't smell right when it was cooking and the dish tasted foul (a dish I cook often and is normally lovely).

Following this I had a bad tummy that night and a horrible garlicky aftertaste like it had gone off....

So my question is how can you tell beforehand? the garlic looked ok and it was annoying to waste what would have otherwise been a lovely dinner!

Call me ignorant but I have heard of this word (mustard oil) only recently (from a friend who found it on the internet). Is this a grocery item? Plus what are the name brands of it that are sold in the Philippines? In any case, are there other names for this oil?

I got some great recipes from all of you for the traditional sauce but my attempts to make it low-fat resulted in nothing even remotely close to the original. I realize you have to sacrifice some of the richness and flavor, but......anyone?

I'm anti-leftovers because of tramatic experiences growing up. I need to learn how to cook for one since my husband's in Afghanistan. Are there any simple recipes I can make? I'm so bored of eating boxed and canned dinners!

I have a smoothie recipe that requires a frozen banana... tried to freeze it last night with the peel on... wasn't so easy to de-peel later. Anyone have suggestions on a better way to freeze one? Thank you in advance!
