I have a smoothie recipe that requires a frozen banana... tried to freeze it last night with the peel on... wasn't so easy to de-peel later. Anyone have suggestions on a better way to freeze one? Thank you in advance!

Peel it. Slice it longitudinally and dip each piece in water and then freeze it. The water film will prevent the darkening of the peeled banana

I actual have been freezing them for years. They make a superb frozen cope with yet now I regularly use them to make smoothie variety drinks. you could the two freeze them at appropriate ripeness yet for smoothies, I enable them to ripen an further day or 2, cut back them or purely smash them into 4 products ,devoid of the peel of course, and that i placed them in baggies and lay them flat interior the freezer so as that they are easy to cut up. I placed 2 or 3 bananas according to bag. you could shop them for months and months , the extra hermetic the extra useful. I enable them to overripe incredibly because of the fact whilst they are incredibly clean/ delicate they make a extra useful extra icy drink. besides, you could by no potential make a foul drink, use very just about any chilly juice- OJ, cranberry, milk or maybe fat loose milk. additionally frozen strawberries combination in super! If purely bananas and milk , I upload a sprint of vanilla or almond extract. the warm button is to apply all FROZEN fruit and chilly liquid and then its thick and icy! have you ever had a shop smoothie the place they upload ice ? particularly awful whilst in comparison with this technique. Blueberries and raspberries and blackberries are ok yet no longer super. i'd advise you to apply one or a million a million/2 bananas although. would desire to be FROZEN! i'm getting marked down ripe bananas genuine low-fee and freeze all of them of sudden. Pineapple is okay yet does not have plenty style. I placed the blender on the slowest velocity and each so often you will desire to close it off, shake the field, because of the fact the bananas do no longer constantly circulate, and then mixture yet another minute or so. Then I pour it right into a brilliant glass from the freezer - you will ask your self why you haven't any longer been doing this for years-it is so-oo stable!

If you want to use the banana while it's frozen, then you have to peel it before you freeze it. I freeze bananas with the peel on and then thaw them later to use for banana bread and things like that. Being frozen with the peel on will make the peels turn black when they thaw and the banana will be mushy like it's over-ripe, which is how you want it for bread and cookies and such.

I've been freezing bananas for a while now.. All I do is peel them and dump them in a bag. They don't stick together, you can break them up in the bag after they are frozen (for easy dumping in the blender!) and they've never turned brown unless I forget about them for far, far too long.

Peel it first, then put it in a freezer type zipper bag. That's how I freeze my bananas for banana bread & other recipes.

Peel it . . . slice it . . . stick it in a ziplock baggie, and put it in the freezer.

Or you could just point a gun at it and say, "Hey, you! Banana! Freeze!" But the first way is more effective.

Well, I just finished inhaling a chocolate covered frozen banana. I would eat the chocolate off of it and blend up the banana. But that's just me.

You froze it correctly! You just need to let it thaw out for a few minutes and the peels will come off easily!
