when i cook chicken and store it in a container there's all this slimey stuff on the bottom of the container and on the chicken, what is that? and is there a way to stop it from happening?

I'm cooking a whole chicken in my new crock pot. I'm planning to season the chicken with a little salt & pepper, and to add about a cup of chicken broth in the crock pot, along with some cut up carrots, onions and potatoes.
Is this going to work? Am I forgetting anything? Does anyone have a great recipe for a whole slow-cooked chicken that I should try instead? (please not web-sites, I can look those up myself, thanks)

The crock pot is new, a Christmas gift, so any tips or ideas could help. Thanks!!

These days, sunflower seeds come in a variety of flavours. Salted, Dill Pickle, Seasoned, etc. They seem like a harmless snack - other than them being salty, is there any reasons why people shouldnt' eat them? Are there any benefits to eating them?

What is the best way to dry herbs.. I usually spread them on paper towel and leave on a cookie sheet, if very moist I put them in the oven and turn it on low heat for a half hour or so and leave them in there.
Usually after a few days, they are dry.

Any other ideas? I have a huge bunch of dill I cant use before it goes bad.

Today, for the first time I made a houmous. It does not taste right. I have found the recipe on the jar with tahini: 1 cup of chick peas, 2 tbs of tahini, juice from 1 or 2 lemons, 1 tbs of olive oil, 2 or 3 cloves of garlic. It is very rich and sour. I do not mind about garlic (I used only 2 cloves). I like Waitrose houmous; for me it is delicious. Can someone tell me which ingredients to use and which not. Please give me a good recipe or a hint. We are in the process remodeling our basement and are making a bar out of half of it. We want it to portray a fun, home away from home, cozy, watering hole type feel. It is small and intended to be a place for our family and friends to come sing karaoke, play darts pool and cards, watch the games and have a few drinks. Most of us like country and classic rock music, the outdoors. We are using natural, burnt, and stained woods, bamboo and sugarcane.
