Amelie is right. But red wine (not rose') haas a substance called tannin which some people cannot tolerate and it can cause severe headaches. The best way to avoid a hangover is to drink lots of water while you drink and especially before you go to bed.

I am a migraine sufferer but I am also a wine lover - I drink red mostly - sometimes rose/white - I have never found wine to trigger my migraines (although there are different triggers for different people).
However cheaper wines can give you a headache (not migraine) and I understand it's the tannins that mostly do this, or other chemicals which are added. I'd say that if you are drinking wine, buy a good quality one so that you can enjoy the experience without getting the headache afterwards!

The tannins found in wine are usually responsible for headaches, in cases where the resulting hangover is not. Tannins are more concentrated in red wines. Rose wines do not contain as great a concentration of tannins as red wine because the process is shorter, resulting in the lighter colour and flavour of the wine. So, yes, red wine can produce headaches. However, rose wine is not a true red wine and it all depends on your sensitivity to tannins. If drinking tea makes you feel a little funny, you maybe be sensitive as teas contain tannins as well.

It sure does-it is all to do with these things called 'Tannins'. The more tannins, the darker and richer the drink.
Basically, the lighter in colour the drink, the easier it is likely to be on your head.
Red wine can be a killer for hangovers, but Rose shouldnt be too much of a problem-perhaps it was a nasty cheap wine you had. Next time swig plenty of water between alcoholic drinks to prevent a sore head.

It can in some people. The tannins in the wine can cause headaches. Try limiting your usage to one glass - or switch to white wine.

It is more than likely the chemicals used in cheap red (and white) wine to give it the flavour that it is supposed to have.
If you try a good red wine without chemicals, then you should be relatively hangover free. Try single grape wines and not blended wines.

It can if you're sensitive to nitrates/nitrites. I have a friend who can only maybe have one glass of red wine and the headache starts. Two glasses for me and I'm wanting a nap, but whites don't do that to me because they have less of the nitrates.

Any kind of wine gives me a headache but no other alcohol does. My mum says it's something about grape and grain

Ooooh. Red wine gives me the worst headaches. I avoid it now.
Try taking a couple of diorrhea tablets before you go to bed. It replaces your lost body salts over night and you'll wake up without a hangover.
Try it.
