What is the best way to dry herbs.. I usually spread them on paper towel and leave on a cookie sheet, if very moist I put them in the oven and turn it on low heat for a half hour or so and leave them in there.
Usually after a few days, they are dry.

Any other ideas? I have a huge bunch of dill I cant use before it goes bad.

I have used a dehydrator, the oven, and my favorite preserver, though NOT drying, is the freezer.

For dill I freeze the whole bunch on a tray then package it in smaller airtight baggies when its frozen.

When I need it , its there in the freezer ready to go. I do this with Cilantro, chives, parsley and other herbs. Works great for ME.

Happy Herbing.

For absolute pennies, you can pick up cellulose furnace filters at the local hardware. They're just folded porous paper in a cardboard frame.

Conveniently, they're the size of a normal box-type fan!

Lay one out, put your dill on, spreading evenly, and stack another on top. You should be able to do about a 4 filter "Dill Sandwich".

Tape these together with a bit of masking tape, and tape the whole stack to the front of a box fan! In no time (well, 6 to 8 hours), turn the stack and go for another 6 to 8 hours. You'll have bulk quantities of clean, dust-free, lovely dried dill, and you will not believe how nice your whole house smells!

Best wishes!
