In all supermarkets I checked, the tuna in oil is always cheaper than the tuna in salt water, given you choose the same brand and can size. My economic intuition tells me oil would be more expensive than some salt water.

I read once in a vegetarian masgazine that it's not healthy for pregnant mothers to be vegetarians because red meats contribute to the growth of the baby's brain.....is that true? Also, does that apply to growing children and adults, as far as brain cell reproducton?

One of my coworkers calls it "dark matter". I call it "black magic". It's supposed to be good for your brain and have anti-oxidants. It'll probably kill you, too.

Wikipedia says:

"Caviar is not generally regarded as part of a vegetarian diet, even by vegetarians who consume milk and eggs. The usual reasoning is that harvesting the eggs involves killing (or performing surgery) upon the fish and thus contributes to animal suffering."

I call bullsh!t on that, though, because "does not eat meat" does not translate to "cares about animals." Eating eggs and dairy contributes to animal suffering, and eating eggs and dairy is part of the definition of ovo-lacto vegetarianism.

i've been a vegetarian for almost 20 yrs....and at thanksgiving i've pretty much always gone to some-one else's house and just made do with eating whatever dishes were meatless (and truly i've kind of always dreaded thanksgiving because of it....there is usually almost nothing i can eat, and everyone else is STUFFED)....
anyways this year i'm kind of thinking about cooking at home for my husband and I (he is NOT a vegetarian)....and i'm wondering what i could make...

I am not American, but live here currently; my parents will come to visit me next week and I want to make a traditional American Thanskgiving dinner for them. What are traditional & historic Thanksgiving dishes? (all I know is turkey and cranberry sauce...)

PS- you dont have to give recipes, I will dig them up online; just give me an idea what I should make.

My husband's birthday is coming up in a few days and I live three hours away from any places like Cold Stone or Dairy Queen where they have them pre-made. He likes caramel and chocolate alot so if they are in the mix, it would be helpful.

I just finished a bottle of flavored water, and saw on the label that it says "CT-DE-5cent refund......CA CASH REFUND" I don't live in any of the states listed, so I was just curious what this means to those of you that do? We just recycle our plastics here in KS, but sometimes curiosity reigns!

Everything else freezes. You name it, it'll freeze, except for liquor. Does anybody really know why you can put a bottle of liquor in a freezer forever and it will never freeze?

Not based on personal taste, but straight sales. Do they rank things like candy or food or anything sold, for that matter? Where could I find that information?

Does anyone know how to make these Greek Cookies that I am dying to find....they are not anything you get in any Greek Restaurant that I have been to...a friend of mines mom made them when I was young...They are almost like a Biscotti texture and are quite plain in flavour maybe a hint of orange...She made them in a 1/2 moon sort of shape...maybe she made it in a "log" shape and then cut it...if you solve this you have solved a 20 year mystery...thanks
