I read once in a vegetarian masgazine that it's not healthy for pregnant mothers to be vegetarians because red meats contribute to the growth of the baby's brain.....is that true? Also, does that apply to growing children and adults, as far as brain cell reproducton?

No that's not true. You can be a vegetarian when you are pregnant. Study show now, that more veg, you get is better. Meat has to many sterile in it now. That's why kids are growing twice there sizes. And that's not good. The number one case of a heart attack is MEAT (PORK IS REALLY BAD FOR YOU). I was reading that when a person dead they have 30% of meat in there body. It takes 3 days to pass red meat out of the body and 5 to 6 days to pass pork meat. You need your green veg. to help fight off cancer cell. If you are looking for some thing to help with the brain cell it's FISH. Fish is the only meat that you can eat that will help the brain and heart.

I have never ever heard that. I would n't personally recommend eating red meat on any occasion. I don't think a vegetarian mag would be promoting meat-eating , what would the vegetarian society say?

Meat is the primary source of vitamin B12 in the human diet. B12 is critical for healthy functioning of the nervous system (chronic B12 deficiency causes nerve damage). Vegetarians have a greater risk of B12 deficiency than meat eaters because of the lack of meat in their diet (both groups are at a fairly high risk of deficiency as they age).

Vegetarians can prevent B12 deficiency by taking a daily B12 supplement.

Hope this helps you. Best wishes and good luck.
