depends on what kind you get and the portion you get as well. If you get it individually it can be from .50 c to 2. $ or a plate can be between 2.00 to 8.00 in average, depending on the restaurant and mainly on what kind.

At most of the Dim Sum establishments that I have visited in Austin and Dallas, the prices per dish seem to range from $2 - $5. However, some of the more exquisite emperor dumplings generally do cost more and will be between $6 - $10.

Dim sum is chinese. Roughly it translates to " order to your hearts content". Dim sum consists of many small dishes (kind of like tapas). Dim sum servers push carts with different types of dishes...and you just pick what you want. Each dish can run from $2 to $7. It's a great way of sampling chinese food. (authentic chinese food) You'll find many dim sum restaurants in Chinatown (they're usually the BIG restaurants that seats like 500 ppl.) I'm not sure which one in chinatown is good (haven't been there in awhile). But if you feel like venturing out to Queens..go to Flushing. Here are a few that are pretty good: 1. Ocean Jewels Seafood Rest. on 39th Ave. 2. Gum Fung 39th AVe. 3. Gala Manor 38th ave.

Most of them are between $2-4 arround sf for the smaller dishes. However, many dim sum places near here have sales. This one place has been having $1.88 specials on certain weekdays.
