My mother-in-law to be insists you are meant to give them lunch and dinner, I don't see how we can do this as the service is in the afternoon, what is the tradition, I don't want my guests going hungry as they expected lunch too!

I bought my boyfriend (now fiance) a really nice, expensive white gold ring for our 2 year anniversary. He loves it and wears it on a chain round his neck.
We are planning our wedding for July and on a budget. he has told me not to spend money on a wedding band. He wants to use the ring I gave him as a wedding band. He has never really worn it on his finger because it only fitted his wedding finger, and in his job it is too dangerous for him to wear a ring anyway.
He said he loves this ring and it will do him for a wedding band. I guess we can get it polished up so it looks new. I was wondering what others think about using this ring? would you do it? He is insisting that he wants to wear this ring as his wedding band. I thought maybe if he doesnt want a new ring I could buy him a new chain to wear it on when he is working.
Is this what you would do? Or would you just go and get a new ring? He says he wouldnt find one he likes as much as the one he has and that it means a lot 2 him

My sister got married in August in Virginia, where she and her husband met and live. The groom's family is from New York and many people did not come to the wedding in Virginia. So, my sister's new mother-in-law is throwing them a big reception in New York on New Year's Eve (the timing was his mom's idea!), AND she seems to expect my sister to wear the wedding dress for this shindig....sweet or tacky?

I have a cousin who will be between 11 and 12 when I get married. She is a little immature and i am not sure if she is right for a jr bridesmaid but I think it might look a little odd if i have her as a flower girl. Also I have another cousin that will be 15 by the time I get married and I am very close to her is that to young to be a bridesmaid? Should she be a jr bridesmaid? I would love to have her as my maid of honner but again im not sure...any thoughts anyone has I would love to hear! thanks!

Well I am getting engaged and my boyfriend said I can do whatever I want as far as the wedding/reception. He says he doesn't care as long he gets to marry me. (too cute IMO) So I am completely boggled as far as what to do....I have a small family and a few close friends (25 people max) but he has like 200 family members in this state alone. From what research I have done so far, I want a small ceremony and a big reception, but I do not know where to begin. Pretty much to sum it up, I am panicking, any ideas?

I was just wondering if anyone had a wedding & reception at Prado in Balboa Park recently. We're going to have it there next year. Please share your experiences /pros and cons if any. Thanks and I really appreciate your inputs.

My engagement ring is similar to this:

Would a mixed cut wedding band like this look weird with it?

I've been with my bf for 6 years (we're both in our mid 20s now) and I'm so happy with him. But how do I know if I'm just comfortable and not in love with him? How do I know that there's not a better person out there for me?

How did you know? Or if you're going to get married...how do you know that your fiance is the one for you?

My boyfriend gave me a promise ring, but ever time that I bring up weddings, or us getting married, he kinda changes the subject. Why? I have told him I want a nice wedding, not something too expensive, and not something to simple ( like a beach wedding ). I want to be able to invite over all my family and I am mexican, so I have a lot of relatives. Could the expensises be scaring him away? But I am a girl... it is every girls dream to have a nice wedding, RIGHT???

I do not know what the etiquette is for engagements. How long should we know each other before getting engaged for society to accept our engagement without freaking out? Is six months long enough?

I'm a bridesmaid in the wedding of one of my childhood friends and am having a major dress dispute. I'm a large girl (size 18-20) and am extremely uncomfortable about being sleeveless in the wedding, even with the shawl my friend suggested. I had asked if I could have something similar made but would cover more, which was majorly pulling teeth. I was talked into agreeing to suck it up and do the shawl for at least the main church parts and then put something over it, but then she pretty much decided she didn't want the shawl either and a big blow-up ensued where she essentially asked me to step down and be a reader instead. I'm insulted that she'd rather change the person in the dress than grant one minor addition to the dress for the person, especially knowing how self-conscious I am. I'm at a total loss of what to do now. I agreed to the original strapless with shawl, and now I'm being called the bad guy for being upset that the shawl's being taken away. I don't know what to do.

We are going to have our wedding AND reception at our home church and MOST of our family live within 1 hour of the church. How soon should invitations go out? We will finish premarital counseling in early April and would like to get married in early to mid-May. Would 4 to 6 weeks be appropriate?

Does anyone know of any churches that do not allow all family members to attend a wedding of a another family because they do not attend the church, do not attend church or other stuff.

If they are any such churches here in the USA, why isn't there more of a public outcry over this disgusting and horrible practice? What should be done to end this ?
