Instead of a photographer, give people disposable cameras (or even cheaper, ask them to bring their digital ones and have a Flickr account set up that everyone can upload to).
Have a party somewhere free like a public park or beach. Make it pot luck, so instead of people bringing you presents, they bring food and liquor.

My fiance wanted to go cheap as well so that we could have our parents save their money and come with us on our honeymoon. What we are doing is having our wedding in a hotel and just ordering off of the hotel restraunt menu. We are having just our parents, siblings and grandparents coming to the wedding. My wedding dress is a two piece bridesmaid dress in white with my favorite green as the accent color, my dress cost me $270 and I get to wear the top again!!! We can't wait for our special day. hope that gives you a couple ideas. oh the room we are renting will only be $50.00 for the day, its at a sandman hotel.

I went to the paper factory and purchased alot of paper items at a reasonable cost. Had most of my bridemaids help put the napkins and the silverware together. Made my bridemaids hair pcs. And my mother made part of the food and the catering company did the other part.

HAVE APPETIZERS FOR FOOD OR HAVE THE PEOPLE COMMING TO BRING A DISH. IF ITS SMALL WHY NOT MAKE IT INTIMATE AND HAVE IT IN SOMEONES HOUSE IN THE EVENING WITH TONS OF CANDLES LIT. YOU DONT HAVE TO BE IN A DRESS AND SUIT. HAVE A THEME. FAVORITE ERA? OR BAND. GO FROM THERE. FOR YOUR BOQUET YOU CAN HAVE EACH MEMBER BRING THEIR FAV TYPE OF FLOWER AND MAKE IT OUT OF THAT.

Do everything yourself! As for me i am doing my own invitations , food, decorations and bouquets for my bridesmaids. My wedding budget is 3200.00. Ask friends to help out. I have my cousin videoing taping my wedding in exchange as a gift. I have co-worker who is taking pictures for free because he like to take pictures. Then i have my uncle girlfriend taking pictures too. Its not going to hurt to ask!!!!

Like a Bridal Shower? If it is do it in your house or your friends house. If you mean for the wedding at the beach that's what i did and it wasn't that expensive.

Take 2 friends as witnesses, go to courthouse, have civil ceremony, get in car, go to drive-through at McDonalds, load up on carbs, stop at Kwikee Mart, grab 4 cans of beer, go home, turn on TV and watch "It's a Wonderful Life".
