We are going to have our wedding AND reception at our home church and MOST of our family live within 1 hour of the church. How soon should invitations go out? We will finish premarital counseling in early April and would like to get married in early to mid-May. Would 4 to 6 weeks be appropriate?

We also don't have to have a final count until about 2 weeks before the wedding, if that. We will be preparing the meal ourselves.

99% of our family lives within one hour, 95% within 30 minutes, 80% in town.

The 1% out of that range will probably not come anyways because they live 4+ hours away and usually have a hard time getting off work for "family get-togethers".

Yes, 4 to 6 weeks is the right time to send out the invitations.

I don't see anything wrong with 4 to 6 weeks. I would lean more on the 6 weeks side though. I have seen a lot of wedding invitations come out 8 weeks in advance though.

If all of your guests live near i dont see anything wrong with the 4-6 week mark. it still gives plenty of time to mark it on their calendar and since no travel arrangements need to be made the standard 3 month rule shouldnt apply here.
You can also send out save the dates if you are stressing over getting the invites out in time. Good luck and congrats!!!

Hi. It sounds like you cannot send them out before you finish your pre-marital counseling, so that would be fine. Truthfully, I think some people send them too early. Normally, it is 6-8 weeks, but 4-6 is also acceptable.

6 weeks would be appropriate if all of your family and friendslive in town. If you have out-of-town guests then 8 weeks. If you do save-the-date announcements, you can get away with 6 weeks...since people will be able to make their arrangements prior to the invite.

Send them out as early as you can- no less than six weeks. If you set your RSVP date too close to the actual date that you need to have your count, you are going to be scrambling, because lots of people respond late, and some don't respond at all. If you need to know two weeks ahead, then set your RSVP deadline three weeks ahead, to give you some wiggle room.

Good luck.
