For our rehersal dinner we have the option of choosing between a two meat buffet (chicken, roast beef...), or a pasta buffet (lasagne, fetuccini, spaghetti...) I'm a vegeterian and would really enjoy the pasta...fiance doesn't care, but should I only take my feelings into consideration? Meat or pasta? EEp!

My bachelorette party is this weekend. We had mentioned a long time ago about going to a concert and then decided we'd rather just hang out and have a good time. One of my bridesmaids mom is also invited. I talked to her today and she said that her mom wants to go to a REO Speedwagon concert so they're gonna do that instead. It hurts my feelings more then anything that she is able to go and choosed to do something else. How would you feel about it?

I would prefer to get a really nice card and put a check in it but how much is acceptable? I can look her up in registrys but am at college having a hard time getting to a store plus, I would rather not have to bring something huge with me to the reception. I have not met this sister yet but have met the rest of his family so I am wondering what an accpetable gift of money would be or if I really should get a gift or a gift card...any suggestions?

I want to get orange ribbon to trim my wedding cake (the baker asked for 1"), but I have been looking for the past 3 days for 1" ribbon and can't find any anywhere!! I swear, I see 5/8", 7/8" and even 1 1/2"...but I can't find 1" to save my life! I've been to 8 different stores in 2 different towns!

Am I just crazy, or do they really not make 1" ribbon?

It's my best friend's wedding this weekend and I agreed to play a solo as part of her wedding ceremony. I'm just playing in the middle of it, not when she walks the aisle, or when she leaves, or during the unity candle lighting or vows... just the middle.

Help!!! I only have a few days!!!

I'm getting married in December of 2008. I already know my colors are a deep deep red (like a burgundy or a merlot) with touches of cream and very little accents of silver. It's not a Christmas theme wedding but there will be certain Christmas touches (this is a wedding, not a Christmas party). Any ideas for centerpieces, place cards, decor..anything would be great!

My fiancee and I are getting married on 10/20, and over the course of the last year, his mother has been battling cervical cancer. We thought she was in the clear early in the year, so we got everything planned. A couple months ago we were given the bad news: it spread viciously (stage IVb) and we're not sure how long she has. She's deteriorating every day and might not be able to attend. We nixed the idea of moving it up, we don't want her to think we're "rushing" her or showing any signs of something being wrong. We will do our best to carry on no matter what the circumstances. If she is still here we'll visit her and have a "mock" ceremony after the church and before the reception. If she's not with us, we'll try to do our best to continue with our plans.
I'm just wondering has anyone had to go through this before, with a parent? How did you cope with it? We're you able to go through with it? We're both obviously very down but looking so forward to this day.

We want to have a large wedding 250+ people. The more flowers and scenery, the better. We are looking for a park or possibly a golf course, or whatever will look nice.

I need ideas for a reception entrance song to be played. When the newly wed couple gets introduced into the reception. We are big into rock and heavy metal and would like to use a song in that genre since they only use about 15-20 seconds of the song. Our DJ had someone use "run to the hills" by iron maiden but we dont want to use that. Any suggestionson something that may be appropriate in this music genre?

On my wedding invitations, how do I refer to our parents?

My dad is a doctor and my parents are married so is it Dr. and Mrs. John Smith? or Dr. and Mrs. John and Mary Smith?

On the "son of" part underneath my fiance's name, are his parents (still married) referred to as Mr. and Mrs. or by their first names? Is it "Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith" or "Son of John and Mary Smith"?

Hi everyone,
I would like to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend but I was thinking of buying the matching wedding band as well. When I propose to her, do I propose to her with both of the rings (the matching wedding band and engagement ring) or do I store the wedding band until the wedding and show her later? The reason why I would like to buy the matching wedding band also is because I do have money now and later I may have more headaches, payments, wedding costs, and possibly not afford of a nice one as I can now. Thank you for your answers,
Dave

Or, do you return it back to the unbetrothed man?

If you DO keep it, it is considered as "income" according to Federal Income laws.
Have you ever declared a kept Diamond Engagement ring as "income" for tax purposes on your return?

(this question is prompted by a segment that just appeared on Fox News where their legal analyst, Liz Wiehl, clarified that an Engagement Ring (from a cancelled engagement) that is not returned but, kept by the bride-to-be because she claims it as being "given to her", is "income" and should be declared on her tax return.)

My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years. Living together for 3 of them. He says he wants to get married one minute and not the next. I really want to marry him so much, but I don't want to come across as being desperate or needy.
