Hi everyone,
I would like to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend but I was thinking of buying the matching wedding band as well. When I propose to her, do I propose to her with both of the rings (the matching wedding band and engagement ring) or do I store the wedding band until the wedding and show her later? The reason why I would like to buy the matching wedding band also is because I do have money now and later I may have more headaches, payments, wedding costs, and possibly not afford of a nice one as I can now. Thank you for your answers,
Dave

Good for you for thinking ahead! That's great. I would get the wedding band now, but don't present it to her with the engagement ring. Put it in a safe deposit box until it's closer to the wedding. You can show it to her so that she knows what the set looks like and if she wants to find a similarly styled ring for you.
Good Luck and congratulations!

It's a great idea to buy the matching wedding band. Just propose with the engagement ring though. She won't be wearing the wedding band until the you guys get married so there really wouldn't be a point in proposing with it.

It's probably practicality and for aesthetic value- if you think about it, the engagement ring usually have a diamond or some other stone, so it would look funny and fit funny if it was put on before the wedding band. some women I know don't even wear wedding bands cos of the shape and design of their engagement rings: they wont fit next to a wedding band. I guess you could do it the other way round if you wanted to :)

You propose with the engagement ring only. It's great that you want to buy a matching wedding band, but try to keep in mind that she may want yours to match.
I enjoyed shopping for my wedding band with my husband, and it's easier to match bands that way. But, if it looks like an easy style to match, get it. Then again, your bride-to-be may not even care if your rings match exactly. If your afraid you won't have the money for it later, though, just stick it in savings and pretend you don't have it. That way, if she wants to pick out wedding bands together, you'll have it! Good luck.

You propose with just the engagement ring, and save the wedding ring for later - but are you absolutely sure you want to buy a set without her having a say in it? You could always propose, and then the two of you could go out and pick out a bridal set together.

Propose with the engagement ring only and show her the band later. She won't be wearing the band until the the day of the wedding and after.
Congrats and good luck! ♥

Definitely buy both the matchings now, because you might not be able to find it later. Also, only show her the engagement ring, and then when you are at the alter you give her the wedding band. I believe it is not only traditional but also very sweet :) Congrats to both of you

Get both now and only use the engagment ring. Show her the wedding band when you are closer to the wedding. It leaves an element of surprise.

Traditionally, when proposing you ask with the engagement ring. If buying as a set, hold the wedding band back. Once she accepts, you'll want to get them both sized and she'll need to be there and of course she'll see them both. I think you are doing this the proper way by thinking ahead as you will have other expenses in the future. Congratulations to you!

When you propose you only use the engagement ring, then come time for the wedding is when you'll both have your bands as a symbol of two united as one.
