I am getting married on 22 November 2008. I want to give people plenty of notice. When is the absolute earliest you would send out invitations if your wedding was on this date?

I am getting married October 4, 2008 and I am sending my invitations out about 10-12 weeks in advance. Usually the norm is 6-8 weeks in advance, but more than half of our guest list is from out-of-town, and so we wanted to give more than the usual amount of time to secure hotel rooms and such. We're also sending out save-the-dates about a year in advance to ensure that people know it's coming. If the majority of your guests are local, then 8 weeks in advance is plenty of time; to make sure that you feel comfortable with the time frame, I would say to make sure they're sent out no later than the third or fourth week of September. Good luck!

It is suggested you send out invitations 6-8 weeks in advance. Figure out what day you will need to have a final count, either for your own knowledge or any of the people assisting with your wedding. Set an RSVP date about 1-2 weeks prior to that and see how much time the 6-8 weeks timespan would offer people to decide. If you need more time go with more, if not stick with that little rule.

You're right 6 - 8 weeks is not long enough of notice to people who are out of town! I'm sending out my save the date cards today and my wedding isn't till December. My fiance's family except his Mom, Dad and Sister all live all over the place. Some are in Hawaii, Utah, California, Arkansas, and Kentucky. My actual invites are going in the mail after Labor Day (September). I would send your save the date cards right after the first of next year and then the invites 3 months before the wedding. Don't forget to add in oversea shipping time for the people in Asia! Good luck and congrats!! ♥ Ashley

I would send them 6-8 weeks before the wedding, but send a save the date card (or magnet or something) 8 months to a year in advance. I can't tell you how many times you'll get a better turn out with that save the date notice!

Wedding invitations should be sent 6-8 weeks before the wedding ceremony. If you want to give people plenty of notice, 6 months - 9 months before the ceremony you can send out a Save-the-Date card for your wedding. This allows people time to plan and save for travel if necessary, as well as to save your wedding date as important in their calendars.

Invitation are usually sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding. You can start sending them out the around September 27th, 2008 (the 4th weekend in sept).

Here in the U.S., you mail out invites 6-8 weeks prior to the event. If you want to give the MOST notice, then go for the 8 weeks. You don't want to do it to early, like some say 10-12 weeks, unless this would be at an extremely "busy" time, like a New Year's Eve wedding for instance. I would go with the 8 weeks prior, so mail them at the end of September.

If you're concerned about getting the information to your guests in a timely manner - or if most of your guests are coming in from out of town - then i would suggest sending a save the date card about 4 months in advance. Invites should not go out more than 8 weeks before the date and the RSVP deadline should be a week before - so that you can give an accurate head count to the caterer.

The absolute earliest is NOW: It's now when people are going back to work, and if they want to come to your wedding, they might ask a permit from their workplace EARLY, not a week before. Now, that would be ok. Maximum 22 September, so that they have exactly 2 months notice! Happy wedding!
