What do you think of the etiquette of this:

My friend is planning on getting married in 2009.

We live in England, and wants to marry in Jamaica?

She is telling us to save up to come over. She has asked me to play an important role in the wedding.

She is marrying the guy that gave her a son, even though he emmigrated to another country when she was pregnant!

Should the guests have to find money for the ticket to go to her wedding?

I am getting married soon, and we have decided to forgo the tradition dollar dances for something called a "dollar dash" instead. The bride and groom race around the room for the length of a song collecting money held out by guests. Whoever collects the most money wins. The only problem we are having is coming up with a sort of punishment for the loser. Something mildly embarrassing but entertaining for everyone. Does anyone have any ideas? The best we can come up with is singing a stupid song or doing some sort of dance, but those just don't seem good enough.

My father is a minister, and me and my fiance have been talking of having him doing the ceremony, but I also want my dad to walk me down the isle. How could I make that work? Especially at the part of "giving the bride away". I've thought of having my older brother walk me down instead, but I think my dad would like to do both. Any suggestions !!!!

We're planning the wedding for March 26th at the Pt Cabrillo Lighthouse in Caspar, CA. It's right by my dad's place, overlooking the sea. My fiance is really excited about having it there. We're figuring maybe about 100-150 people, neither of us have very big families. A non-alcoholic wedding, because his family gets violent when drinking and mine is religious. We want a 3-tier cake, chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate-raspberry. My dress is white with red trim, from David's Bridal. I'm not sure what to do about a caterer yet. We ARE working on a limited budget. Any ideas, or any opinions? Anything helps. If I ask my family for advice, they try to take over everything. So I'm relying on you!

Do they pay for their own, or do we pay for them? Do we choose their dresses? Please help!

How soon do you send out wedding invitations? I am planning a March wedding, and I have no idea how soon to send out the invites.

Is it rude to expect them to pay to go to your wedding? Is that something you're supposed to include in your wedding budget?

We're catering our own reception, and here's what we have already:

Roast pork
Pasta salad
Potato Salad
Baked Beans
Green Beans
Cole Slaw
Taco Salad
Enchiladas
Fruit Salad
Devilled Eggs
and Cake for dessert.

We have chips, pretzels, and a veggie tray to snack on, and we're having pop, water, juice, and alcohol for drinks.

My Grandma is not going to be able to attend the reception, so she wants to make something and send it, but I don't know what to tell her to make! Any suggestions?

This is going to be a silly question, but I don't know much about weddings and I'm currently planning my own. Are you supposed to have the same amount of bridesmaids as you do groomsmen? Or does it just look nicer if you do?
Also are there any other traditions at weddings I should be aware of? I really don't know too much and I have just the bare basics. Like how long should it go on? How does the typical wedding go? Who walks down the aisle first, etc? Really, a "rough draft" of how a typical wedding goes would be awesome. Thanks!

In spite of the fact that their fiance loves them the way they are, they somehow feel the need to go on a crusade to loose a bunch of weight for one day. No wonder men are disenchanted so easily after a wedding. The woman looses the weight for the one day, then plows it back on one month later. What a let down. Don't you think it would be better just to stay the way you are?

I have been with my x fiance for 4 1/2 years since I was 16 now am 21. And i always wanted a ring, that was my issue. So finally after all the talks of him not knowing bla bla bla.He took me to miami and proposed just as I wanted with a huge 3 1/2 carat ring.Almost couldnt beleive it.Planning the engagement party was the worst.I wanted a big party this ment alot to me and his parents wanted a small party. So I had planned everything myself. With none help from his mother who was the closest to me throughout the years and you would think she would be happy to help right?..wrong. The night of the party he was acting very weird, not near me almost the whole night instead getting drunk with his friends at the bar, I had came up to him and told him that he should stop getting drunk and instead be next to me for at least one second. He flipped, and walked out on me. His parents did not help the situation in any way.Did not try to stop him.Why would he leave me?

Please name the disadvantages or serious problems a virgin encounters. And if she doesn't find the special someone was that virginity wasted? (Asked in Relg. forum because she is Catholic.)

Please don't comment if you are in your 20s or beginning 30s because you have to walk the shoes of a virgin in her later years.....

Cold, hard cash, or a night in a hotel room?

My great aunt asked my grandma this, and she relayed it to me, because she didn't know what to say. I got married a few weekends ago, and my aunt lives in another state, so she wasn't able to attend, and wants to give me a gift.

We're pretty much living paycheck to paycheck, so the cash would be great, but we didn't have a honeymoon either, so there's good points for the hotel room, too.

What is your opinion?

Do you think men and women should share the duties, or do you think it should be left up to the woman?

If the woman is WILLING to take control of the day...do you think she has the right to have veto power of all decisions??

Isn't it "the brides" day...?

It worked. very well. Since telling my Father over a year ago that we were getting back together I haven't heard anything from him. I saw him at my Greatgradfathers Funeral and he walked out the back door. coward.. ANYWAY. I am struggling with the decision to invite him. my whole life he has done this **** to me and now I don't want to do the right thing.

My wedding was a disaster in my eyes. I was sick and ended up getting two shots the week of the wedding just to make it there. Our rehearsal dinner was so messed up. My music and slide show didn't play, no one could hear us, no one introduced us, everyone left their gifts, our food left over food even got ruined....shall I go on

I have had 3 friends get married so far this summer, and have attended all of their weddings. Between the bridal showers, wedding gifts, one bridesmaid dress, and for one my son was ring bearer, so his tux, im maxed out on wedding spending for the summer. I work 6 days a week and am a single mom, i really cant afford to miss another day of work (took a full week off when my son was hospitalized and am still trying to bounce back after that), and cant afford more presents and outfits. My cousin is getting married this october. I wasnt going to go, im not close with her, but since its the only family wedding, im taking slack from my family now for going to the other weddings but not one for "family". Keep in mind this cousin i see for about 3 holidays a yr and thats it...Its not like i dont want to go...i just really cant afford it. Is my family just overreacting, or is it rude to not go?

My boyfriend and I got engaged in July and have started our wedding planning. We decided on a theme and colors we'd like and a date, May 21st, 2008, but we still need to work out more details for it. I was wondering if there was something that can help me self plan my wedding and keep things affordable? He and I don't have a lot of money and we've yet to announce our engagement to our families, we're not sure how they'd react, but we'd like to at least get a blueprint set up. Anything on wedding planning (advice, tips, stories, etc) would be great appreciated. Thank you.
