I wouldn't

It's very difficult to answer this question. Growing up in a country where our marriages are NOT arranged means most people in Canada, the US, etc, don't believe in arranged marriages and obviously wouldn't want one. But, if you were born and raised in a country/culture that still has arranged marriages, you would probably feel differently.

Obviously most people here are going to have really biased answers. Of course I'd say no, I wouldn't want to, but then I'm biased because of the country/culture I grew up in...

That depends. Would I be moving there after I'd already been raised the way I am now? Or would I have been there from day 1 and raised in that culture/society? As I stand now, no, I most certainly couldn't do it, but if I was raised up and knew that's how it was going to be, then maybe, depending on if I'd been influenced by anything else.

It depends. In a culture where people get married very young, say 14 and under--I would say that the parents are in a much better position to choose a suitable husband or wife than the bride herself or the groom himself would be. Of course, in our culture, we tend to value the importance of the individual over the importance of the family, and thus would not tolerate what we consider to be unwarranted interference in a very private and personal matter.

No, because my friends and family would never have guessed that my dear husband would be a perfect match!!

But I have friends who have been married for 40 years. Their marriage was arranged in Sri Lanka. They are perfectly happy, and cannot imagine how people do it any other way!

Only if he was sexy, good in bed, new how to be nice to a woman and his kids, had some $ to at least feed us when I wasn't working, a nice home with running water etc. maybe a spa? I cvould go on and on. NO I WOULD NOT TAKE A PRE_ARRANGED MARRIAGE!!! Are you nuts? I feel sorry for the women in countries that their religion pushes them to do it.BUT!! That is history, religion etc. not my way. Even though my mom made me do it and I live here!

Yes. You should know the divorce rate in USA (55%) versus India (2%). They must be doing something right. When I travel to India I see many happy couples.

Many young men and women meet the suggested spouse and have the opportunity to say "No, this is not the person for me". The parents try again. One of my friends in India said no 21 times -- now he is happily married.

ADDED: Your question did say "your marriages". If we get it right it would be "your marriage".

Great question. Imagine how many people in our past had no other choice. Makes for some serious strength. Or no other choice. I'm not well behaved, so I would have been banned from intercourse. But that's how a lot of modern marriages are, too. Hmmm.

Yes, provided that the law will not insist this on foreigners or visitors.

It would be good to find out how the relationship evolves. Don't you think so? And, who knows, you might end with one!

i don't think so...i believe that in order for two people to get married they should be in love and have common goals in life...that's something you don't find in arranged marriages...
