You should be able to get plenty under that amount depending on what it is you want.
This site might help you narrow down what you want exactly
http://houston.usaweddingmall.com/Event-Reception-Locations.cfm
This site has a bunch of venues listed
http://www.myhoustonwedding.com/
It really depends on how many guests you have and what kind of meal you plan on serving during dinner but that should be easily arranged.

Unless that includes the catering and it will cost $100 per person for 100 people, then no the hall should definitely not cost $10,000.
There are plenty of banquet halls that are available, just stay away from hotels because a lot of times they include the catering and do not allow outside caterers.
I don't knwo what side of town you are on but Bella Terraza near the Galleria (on Chimney Rock near Westheimer) is really beautiful, I'm not sure what their fees are.
Here are some sites that may help:

Hi. I don't know anything about Houston, but for $10,000 you should be able to get quite the reception!
I'm thinking it was a typo and you meant to say $1,000. If that is what you meant, why not look into places like VFW halls, church halls, any type of park with a pavilion. Sometimes "groups" have places to rent ~ like AAUW (American Association of University Women) is one that I can think of. Go online or do it the old fashioned way, and get out the yellow pages and look through it for banquet facilities. Also....ask around! Do you work? Go to school? Sometimes if you network with others you get good ideas. Good luck.

$10,000 for a middle to upper class reception hall should include the food, set-up, and alcohol. I'd try to find a reception all that charge by the person, so you know the exact amount is will cost.
I am in Michigan and I am paying $43 per person. This includes the food, premium alcohol, set-up, decorations (but not the center pieces), and a reception wedding coordinator. So basically, it includes everything but the DJ and photographer.

we are having a small wedding ceremony at a botanical gardens, and an afternoon hors de'oeuvres reception. there will be approximately forty people. we are slicing numerous expenditures by using self-catering, and not being very fancy or formal. i presumed initially it could value around $one thousand, besides the fact that plainly like it is going to be closer to $1500. this continues to be somewhat much lower priced, so a techniques as maximum weddings flow. i'm pleased with each thing we are doing, and that i'm somewhat overjoyed that it is not going to be a huge deal financially.

Surely that is a typo and you meant $1,000......"only $10,000" is pretty much any place you desire.
You will need to look into things like VFW, churches, call city parks and rec for city owned sites and historical locations, etc. 99% of the time your typical wedding halls will not allow you to do outside catering so you are stuck using them or their prefered person.

Here is a place you can look at all the venues available in houston texas.
I hope this helps. There are many to look through and if you click on the venue it will take you to the place to see if they have a website to look at.
You may have to get a username and password, but it is free. It helped me tremendously. You can find other stuff there too.
Good luck.

Do you mean one thousand dollars because you wrote ten thousand dollars and with that kind of money you could probably throw the entire catering, bar and site rental in and it would probably be less than ten thousand.
