For our rehersal dinner we have the option of choosing between a two meat buffet (chicken, roast beef...), or a pasta buffet (lasagne, fetuccini, spaghetti...) I'm a vegeterian and would really enjoy the pasta...fiance doesn't care, but should I only take my feelings into consideration? Meat or pasta? EEp!

Pasta!!!!!!!!!!!! Just about everyone likes it, and it will give you something to eat. I feel your pain as I am also a vegetarian. And if anyone has a problem with what you serve they can choose to pay extra for their own meal, or eat when they get home. I know this sounds harsh, but they are not paying for the meal and have no room to complain.

I would change the restaurant/caterer! That is ridiculous making you choose between 2 meats or flat-out veggie pasta!! I am willing to bet that if you said you really liked their food but unfortunately would have to go elsewhere if they can not provide a one-meat (chicken) option along with a couple of pastas, they will quickly give you a third option! I know it's your wedding but you will be treated like a princess all weekend. The plain truth of etiquette and good manners is to treat your GUESTS very specially. You are about to become a married WOMAN so it's time to start being a great hostess and this is a good place to start. Talk to your caterer/restauarnt. Even for a small group of 6 they will find a way to have a buffet that makes everyone happy and full and your new hubby will get loads of compliments about his thoughtful new bride! Starting off right with new relatives is the way to go!

As a fellow vegetarian, I would go for the pasta, especially if your fiance doesn't care. What will you eat if you do the meat buffet? I'm sure everyone there will like the pasta!

If you are a vegetarian and your fiance is happy with vegetarian food, I wouldn't even consider serving two meat options. What would you eat, then?

As for any carnivores on the guest list, just don't make a big deal out of the fact the food is vegetarian. Most people are perfectly content to have the ocassional vegetarian meal, and a surprising proportion of those who aren't will just assume there's meat in the lasagne and never notice it isn't there.

Depends on the wedding food. If you are having pasta at the wedding, go with the meat at the rehearsal. But if you are a vegetarian, I am sure the caterer will make you whatever you want regardless of what everyone else has.

Everyone like pasta, maybe you should have some sides of meat to add to the pasta if they want it.
You are eating too.
lasagne has meet in it, as well as spaghetti, this way everyone has what they want. Right?

Well lasagna usually has meat in it unless it is specified as vegetarian. Spaghetti might have meatballs with it, and fettuccine could have chicken added.
So I would go with the pasta you prefer but ask to add meat to one of the dishes if none of them come with it. That way all your bases are covered.

what about a meat lasange. a side of meatballs and saugage plain spagetti and fetuccini .
I would not enjoy the pasta without meat and would feel like I had to leave and go out to eat. I do not like meatless meals.

I agree with the post above...

I think you should ask for one meat buffet and one pasta vegetarian buffet, and see what they say... I worked in a restaurant and parties make the most money and the're not willing to lose the money... Squeeky wheel...

talk to the manager... you'd like one vegetarian option as well. "They" should accomodate "you"... Not the other way around

Morgan it's your rehearal and as such you should have the choice of what's on the menu. Besides everyone will be so excited about the wedding they aren't going to notice there's no meat. Have a blast and a very happy married life also.
