i am very upset as we have set a date for our wedding now. we dont have very much money, however my father is quite well off. he has been with his girlfriend for 10 years now and she doesnt want my father to pay for the wedding. i believe that it is for selfish reasons as she is very materialistic and probably has ideas of her own how to spend my dads money. i really dont know how to approach this subject as it seems my dad is brainwashed by her. i am his only daughter and i dont have unrealistic expectations for the budget, the average uk wedding costs 14,000 pounds. and i would be well in budget with that. please has anybody got any ideas on what i can do?

I am planning on getting my sister and her groom a gift certificate for a night a nearby resort. They aren't going on a honeymoon and have a toddler son. My mom has offered to babysit (I live out of of town) for them when they want to go. Would you enjoy this or feel that it was too intrusive?

I told the groom's mother what I was planning and she thought it was too intrusive to assume that they would want to go there.

I asked yesterday if people thought if i were NOT to invite kids under 12 to my wedding, would the parents not come. I think people thought i didn't know what to do with the kids if they did come but i want to know if the parents won't come if i exlude the kids. Its not like i would have 5 kids i have 20-25 from ages 8-0, i love all the kids but i don't want to listen to babies cry, there are 4 born just this year. Plus its 75 a person.

i know what i could do if i did invite them, but since i'm not a parent i'm not sure if i exlude kids that the parents won't come or think that i'm rude not to invite there children

Because I have a daughter who will be nearly 2 when we get married we are going to have the reception from 11:30am till 5:30pm. It is not going to be formal and we are not having a sit down meal, any suggestion for daytime entertainment to keep guests entertained and to give the reception a party feel?

I'm a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding next summer, but I don't know if I get her a gift. The last wedding I was in was my sisters, and that was 7 years ago. I was 16. I don't remember.

Hey Yahoo answers family. Once again I have a question that needs some answering. I am getting married August 10, 2008 and I really don't know whose coming to the wedding because of recent feuds with the family due to racial issues toward my fiance. Same with his family. Anyway is there any hotels that hold wedding receptions no matter how small or big the wedding might be. I live in Michigan (Bay City, Saginaw or Midland). Serious replies only please. We are having a wedding reception no matter how small or big the party might be,

Thanks in advanced :)

how many women had a very small wedding, or a "shot-gun"wedding,and regret not having the big traditional one that you always dream about as a little girl???

how many had a large traditional wedding, and wished they would have eloped instead??

reasons why???

I am a size 12 but I just joined Weight Watchers to try to loose some weight before our wedding which is 1 year away.

I was looking on e-bay and I found this dress. What do you think of this one in white?

Has anyone ever bought a dress from a place like this on ebay? They are from China and make the dress to fit you. Would you buy your dress from a place like this?

Also, do you think that I am too fat to wear this dress (or a dress like it), honestly. All the models are so skinny, I have a hard time picturing them on me.

Here is a picture of me, I am in the blue jean jacket:

Hi, I am now engaged to the man of my dreams. I asked him to marry me about 4days ago (he was working up to ask me :P I beat him to the punch), We met online and have been together 6 months or so, he just moved him from the West coast to the east. so...his family is still over there and it would be a huge expence for them to come here and it is the same for my family to go there...so I am wondering what to do...help???

My parents have offered to help pay for my wedding. (5,000) They offered more but I didn't feel comfortable taking it.

It seems that there is alot of judgement on brides whose parents still offer to pay for their weddings from people who had to pay everything themselves. I've seen it not only on Y!answers but in general life.

It also seems that people who have huge budgets get mad when you offer ways to make things less expensive. Why would you have a 15k wedding that LOOKS like 15k when you can have a 15k wedding that looks like you spent 30k?

We own our home, 2 cars, blah blah blah. I don't have an answer as to why we waited forever, but we wanted to get married and he wanted a wedding, so we are having one. Our invitations, in order to include our children, read: Nicholas, Austin and Kyle Request the honor of your presence as their mother Mary Michelle marries their father Kevin Lyle etc, etc, etc. I thought it was a nice way to incorporate our whole family, but we have been getting a ton of flack. Do I blow them off or redo my invites? BTW, we are totally footing the bill.
