Hey anna - sfa,
I have been photographing weddings for over 20 years. THAT is one of the top MOST BEAUTIFULLY ELEGANT gowns I've ever seen, and I've seen hundreds.
And listen to me about this, trust me! If you are a size 12, you are not all that "overweight". Okay, maybe take off a few pounds, it might make you feel better, trim up the waist a little, sleek up the arms a bit.
But, the very best and most important thing you can do to look absolutely smashing in that dress, is to get a routine goin to the gym. Work on keeping your posture straight as a board. Work on toning your arms (biceps and triceps), the top section of your back (especially the delts) and , even your neck. Start NOW working on it -- TONING. Be very careful not to allow a trainer let you do anything that is "body-building". Be careful, it's easy to to that left on your own too. JUST TONE AND DEFINE. And , when you loose weight, toning will be even more important. Get a little "definition" going on in your arm muscles. And of course, as is true for ALL of us -- work work work, and keep, working on abs.
And, if you do loose any weight, don't loose your bust! (Like you would have a choice?) Just look at that photo of the dress -- that model may be "skinny" but she's got the boobs it takes to MAKE that whole look. The most strategic points are the cinched-in waist, and the full bust. (And, yeah, even that slim gal could NOT have breathed when the shutter went off.)
Oh, and please don't "over-do" the veil -- like comin all down around your shoulders, and long, and over your face. It shouldn't hide you, your neck, or shoulders! The veil should COMPLIMENT, not compete.
Also, something to start right away is intensive skin care. I'm sure from your looks, you have good skin and take good care of it. What I'm referring to now is your whole chest, arms, and back. You might not want to hear this, but I recommend staying out of the sun as much as possible for most of this coming year. Then a few weeks before the wedding, start tanning for real --VERY VERY GRADUALLY. Don't dare blister and peel! You need a bit of a tan, but California beach bronze -- no. That dress does not call for too much of a tan, it just don't "go with it". Just enough to have a good color/glow, and smooth as silk.
Trust me, you will knock their eyes out.
If you do get this dress, it would be a good idea to begin to keep it private and not show it to many people AT ALL. I know that'll be hard, but, the less any of your guests know about your dress, the more you are going to knock their eyes out when you come down that aisle. They'll remember it forever and won't be able to stop talking about it. Just think about it.
I hope all the best for you. I would love it if you'd email some wedding photos to me after the wedding. I don't think you quite realize quite yet the magnitude of what you've got going on. The dress is unprecedented, unmatched, a little gift from God. So go look like the angel you are.
P.S. ... my curiosity got the best of me -- could it be possible the sfa might be Stephen F. Austin?

I bought a dress off Ebay from China. The dress came and it is beautiful. Just what I hoped for. The problem... doesn't fit me like I hoped for. It wasn't that they did a bad job on it, it's just that for my body type (busty) something else would have suited me better. If you can find the dress, try on the real version of it at a bridal store and if you like it go for it. Be very aware of the feedback rating because some are no good at all.
If I were to do it again, I just cough up the money at a bridal store. I only paid $140 for my dress, but I'd much rather feel confident and had spent more.

I wouldn't buy from e-bay (most times you can't return it so your stuck) unless your trying to cut the cost and don't care. but a dress should be tried on because a picture doesn't do it justice and sometime it looks better in the picture and not on you. And more than likely your going to need some alterations either size or lenght. Also, Wedding dresses sometimes run entirely different than your real size.
Save yourself and since it's a year away, most dresses take 4 to 6 months to complete so take your mom, your best friend or everyone in the wedding party and make sure it looks good on you and let your mom have that first cry when you try on the dress of your dreams.

Trust me, you don't want to buy a wedding dress that you
have not tried on and had adjustments made. Your wedding
day is the most important day of your life. And so you have
to have the right dress that is flattering on you. You want to be
the bell of the ball. When you buy from a distant seller, you
have only their description/picture to go by. If you are disatis-
fied, could you get your refund with the return of the dress.
I would not buy anything made in China. For from other things
I've heard, they don't put the same care into their goods to
hold up. I'd be afraid of the dress coming apart with every
movement down the aisle, myself. Look at the food that they
have been sending to us that's poisoned animals and made
people sick. Not related to clothes, I realize, but they don't
seem to have people who check on how things are made
over there. I have seen so much crud coming from China.
Much like things were when we got them from Japan back
in the 50's and early 60's. I'd buy American made, and be
proud of wearing it. Why would you want something with
gold trim? I can't imagine how they'ed use anything so
expensive and sell it so cheaply (under $200.00). The saying
"You get what you pay for", is generally true. Go to a bridal
dept in a dept store and see what styles they have, and
the price list. Go to a store that is like Ross or a Marshalls,
where they have clothes from retail stores or manufacturers
samples at a savings.
I have also seen some fabulous gowns donated to the
Goodwill stores from time to time, with alot of fancy beadwork. You want to look like a princess, but you will only
wear the dress once, unless you go for the newer trend where
you can modify the dress later and take off a long hem and
wear the dress for a coctail occasion later. I think that is a
wise investment. Anyway, if it were me, I'd play it safe, and
wouldn't buy any dress I couldn't try on first. This is still a form
of 'mail order' and it might not be as precise as the picture.

First off you are so pretty and have a great smile - so beautiful wedding pictures you will definitely have. What I would do first is go to a salon and try on a dress similar in style to this and see what you think of it - you will get a good idea if that style works for your shape. I am a bridesmaid in my friends wedding - we went with pictures of dresses she saw in magazines that she loved, but when she tried them on she didn't care for them - she went with a different style instead that she hadn't even considered but when she tried it on she looked like a princess! I think you are fine the way you are and could absolutely get away with wearing this dress or a similar dress. If you do buy a dress off ebay just make sure it is from a seller that has mostly great feedback - and check their feedback that is what it is there for. Good luck!

That is a beautiful dress and the seller had a lot of good feedback from previous bidders/buyers. Some said the size was perfect, others said it wasn't, so if you decide to order, make sure to order in plenty of time to either return for the correct size or to have it altered. I purchased my veil from ebay and was very satisfied. You are definitely not to fat to wear the dress. I would suggest you print off the picture and take to a local bridal shop and see if they have anything similar that you can try on to see if you like the style on you.

I've continuously preferred the men garments from Express and Banana Republic when you consider that they are a tad bit dressier than different locations and their attire aren't any exception. They have a few quite exceptional attire that with a bit of luck would possibly not fee you an arm and a leg. If the ones two locations are too high-priced otherwise you cannot uncover whatever you prefer then you definately would assess out their sister retail outlets, Old Navy and Gap. When all else fails - Macy's or Ann Taylor.

Yes the dress is nice but it is cut for a slender females, and sorry to say looking at your photo of your body it appears that you would not fit this dress well. Try going to bridal shops or looking through magazines to get an idea of what will fit your body type.
Also, no I would not buy or recommend a dress on EBay for something as important as a wedding dress.

You are gorgeous and congrats on your upcoming wedding! Those dresses are really heavy! Have you tried one on yet? I would def go to a bridal shop and try on dresses before you order online. They fit so much different than normal clothes. The dress is very pretty but I also loved those kinds of dresses but trying them on they are so uncomfortable! You want to be comfy during the reception but its whatever your preference. I would def say to go to a shop, I would also order from a bridal shop since you know what you are getting rather than ordering from China. You might not like the dress in person, they all look so different from in pictures! Good luck!

Hon, the dress is gorgeous and so are YOU! However, it's really ritzy fancy-dancy, meant for a very formal wedding.
It's just WAY better to go and try on dresses at stores, trying on as much variety as you can, then you can really get a good feel as to what silhouette matches your figure and style best.
Sorry, just wouldn't take the chance on buying a dress from a foreign country like that, and not on ebay either.
Happy shopping!
